the idea is simple it contains 2 electrodes, when there is a connection between the electrodes, the sensor starts.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I dont think this think will float in a way that it will continue to work. If too much water gets in it, itll die. But the way i see it, its better to have a broken water sensor than more water damage on the house.

Please try again later.I haven't tested my answer, but I'm going to bet no - The unit isn't water tight - I think you would get the initial notification, but IMO if it gets totally covered, I do think the unit would fail. That being said, the Smart Hub app does continue to tell you there is a leak until you turn off the alert manually in the app. Hope that helps.
