QuestionHas anyone tried enhancing the contacts so they can extend down into a wet area? For example, soldering copper wire to the two contacts so they reach down into a sump pit. Longer sensor leads could prevent flooding sensor and allow an earlier warning.

- Answer I haven't but I plan to zip tie it to the pipe I'd rather lose a 35 dollar Sensor than flood my basement again.

QuestionI bought a ST hub and a water sensor. It is working great but I only get one text alert that I have to clear before another alert will be sent. If I miss the first text is there a way to change settings to recv more.

- Answer Yea, actually you can. Go to your my home Select your sensor Select SmartApps-up top to the far right Select Notify me when Then select Minimum time between messages. This will allow you to set the time frame that you would like to receive notifications. Hope this helps. Took me a while to figure it out as well.

QuestionCould this be utilized in other places besides a basement floor? I was thinking of putting this under sinks throughout the house in the event of a leak. I was also considering putting this behind my washing machine in the event the drain got disconnected.

- Answer It can be placed anywhere water could leak. But beware, mine disconnected from the hub freqently.

QuestionDoes this only sit on flat surfaces or can you run part of it down into the sump hole to catch the water high before it hits the floor?

- Answer It’s only designed to sit on flat surfaces. We use it to sense water overflowing from the washing machine pump. When it senses water the washing machine shuts off.

QuestionPls read the 2 questions below. I downloaded the Smartthings app. I set it @ a leak sensor up. It works well but need to recv more than 1 alert. Smartapps is empty on top Rt. Where do the Smartapps come from. Just trying to follow last two answers. TY

- Answer The leak notifications are configured through the Smart Home Monitor section on the dashboard tab of the app. I don’t see that you can configure multiple alerts for the same event but you can have it do multiple things on alarm - push notifications, flash lights, sound alarm (if you have one), etc.

QuestionCan I use this in a tank to indicate when the water level is low? In other words, it will be submerged in water most of the time, but if the water level drops, it will be out of the water.

- Answer I'm afraid this sensor is not meant to be submerged. There are other sensors that have a wire with two probes that I use to tell if my sump pump does not turn on.

- Answer the idea is simple it contains 2 electrodes, when there is a connection between the electrodes, the sensor starts.
