I love having the feeling of security that if my hot water tank leaks in my basement, I will be informed immediately by my sensor! All of my other SmartThings “things” work great!

The sensor was easy to pair with SmartThings Hub. It seems to be working as expected. Battery life could be better perhaps as it seems to have already drained down to 75% in the few weeks I have been using it. But if you need to monitor critical areas for water (and temperature), this could be a good product - especially if you want compatibility with SmartThings.

Have been using two of these for several months. It takes just a few seconds from when moisture touches the two wire sensors on the bottom of it until you get a signal. The sensor is really two metal wires on bottom that you set on the floor. When water touches it and changes the electrical flow and sends an alarm. After 3 months, they are 77% battery yet -- so very reasonable battery life. I've placed them on a concrete floor. In other moisture sensors I've had, the two wires will start to corrode over time (1-2 years) and you start to get false alarms. No signs of this or false alarms after a few months. One other neat feature of most SmartThings sensors, including the moisture sensor, is it also provides temperature. You can not set an alarm on a temperature with it , but you can monitor temperature manually via SmartThings app. So I use this sensor to monitor the room temperature where they are installed (basement) as well.

Easy to setup and easily detects water. I put a drop of water on my finger and touched the sensors and it immediately detected. It sent a push notification and text message. I forgot to clear the alerts and got hourly alerts until cleared which was a nice surprise. I would recommend these for any place water may be an issue.

Had a leak in our laundry room due to a drain hose working free and a lint clogged drain that caused extensive water damage. I have now paired this with a GE Wave 15-Amp/120v outlet to ensure the machine cuts off killing power to the pump should any water make contact with the sensor. You will have to create a basic rule in the SmartThings app to have this sensor trigger the outlet to turn off. Works great as I have tested with even a few ounces of water. Make sure to position in a place that will detect water, but won't get hit my a few drops falling off wet laundry. It is very sensitive when the two electrodes are touched.

    Nice water leak detector

After experiencing a water leak in my home first hand (don't want to relive that again), I find it is more cost effective to be proactive and install water leak detectors in order to be notified if and when a leak occurs. The smart things leak detector (which I purchased when there was a half price sale) is easy to set up and integrates perfectly with the smart things hub. The one thing I do not like about it is that I was told by the people at smart things that it is not meant to become fully submerged in a liquid and if this happens it may not work again. That's not good, but at least you'll get the warning about the leak! There are some other brand units that have the electronic components installed high above the possible leak and a cord with a sensor (two exposed wires) that go down where you could possibly experience the leak. These type units will work after a leak, however, they don't necessarily look as nice or are as compact. The smart things leak detector at half price was a good deal and a wise investment.

We occasionally have a leak under our kitchen sink that isn't enough to cause water to spill out onto the floor so we usually find it when we get an odor or notice that something is wet when we open the cabinet. Installed this (paired and placed under the sink) in literally 30 seconds and within 10 days was surprised when it alerted me (via text message) of water under the sink. Originally I was skeptical since there were no obvious external signs of water but, sure enough, when I opened the cabinet and removed the items in front there was a small pool of water. Since I was notified immediately the bonus was that I could actually see where the drips were coming from, something I was only able to speculate about before since this was an intermittent problem. Mess cleaned up before more damage to the cabinets, and leak location fixed. I had been chasing this for 2 years and now believe the sensor won't ever go off again!

Set up near both the sump pumps in my basement and test with water. A few drops triggered it going from dry to wet in the SmartThings app and a quick swipe of the contacts resulted in dry. Feel much more confident that I can address a flood or leak in basement quickly with these.

Great and simple product that does the job well. This is a one time setup product that will keep you safe in case of a water leak. It is easy to set up with the Smartthings Hub. It might not be the most exciting thing to purchase, but it will save your home in case of a water leak when it alerts you.

Very easy to add to your SmartThings Hub. Battery lasts a long time and also monitors temperature, which is great for cold places. Easy to monitor via the smartphone app. I've used other water leak detectors (eg. D-Link) but this one is by far the best because it's really simple and effective (D-Link connects your your WiFi network and needs a power outlet which limits where you can place it).

I've setup and tested the water sensors. They work great. They are easy to sync to the smartthings hub and of course all you do is find a good spot to sit it on the floor. I only gave it four stars due to the smarthings alerts. Using the default software with smartthings it only texts you of a leak I'd rather have an email too. I'm sure i could probably do more with other develops apps, but i shouldn't have to depend on outsiders for more flexibility. Solid product though.

Before purchasing this product, I had a water heater bust open and flood our basement while we were at work all day. I feel more reassured with this near that water heater and near our laundry machine to alert us when another issue pops up. After easy pairing with my smartthings hun, I touched the two metal contacts on the bottom with wet fingers to have it alert me immediately. Passed the test and in place to do it’s job!

I needed a leak detector that would send a message to my smart phone if my hot water tank developed a leak. The hot water tank still works well, but it getting old. The set up was not too confusing. Was able to do this myself without assistance. The hub and the leak detector were a bit expensive for doing just one water leak detection, but if I like the system I can add other devices that are not too expensive.

I got this item when it was on sale, It was very easy to set up. Experimented with it to be sure it worked, only thing ive noticed was when I receive an alert it didn't tell me the location even though I gave it a specific name. That still might just be a simple setting ive overlooked. now I wish I still had several more of them! Excellent gift!

Bought two of these devices along with the Smarthings hub. Placed them in areas where water leaks could most likely occur. ( laundry room- under toilet tank). Set-up was effortless and quick. Tested performance by placing them in very minimal moisture. As long as the wifi is up and the batteries in the sensors are charged- I'm fairly confident I'll know if there is a serious water leak in my home. I suppose it is ideal to add a main water shutoff valve for added assurance. In the past I had a hot water tank failure that flooded my home. I was insured- but the additional cost and destruction was devastating. This Smartyhings product is inexpensive and seemingly a Smart way to go.

Well I haven't actually used this product yet and I hope that I don't have to, but during testing and setup this product worked quickly when in contact with water and it sets up incredibly easy and the comfort it gives me to potentially turn a disaster into a quick water clean up can't be beat.

Does a good job of detecting water on all surfaces including damp paper and cloth. Battery life is excellent. Been running for over a month and still over 90%. Also measures temperature which is convenient if you are worried about pipes freezing and you use the detector outside. Or you just want to know the temperature under your kitchen sink. I would recommend this device under every sink so you find small leaks before they turn big and water ruins everything in the cabinet. Also good to put in places like your basements by sump pumps. Or anyplace water accumulates in your home after heavy rains.
