• No wiring required. Has a long life battery inside. Just needs to be mounted within Wi-Fi range.

• There is a lithium battery in the camera that will need to be charged about once every 1-3 months depending on use. Camera comes with charging cord, plus the camera is easy to remove since the mounting bracket is magnetic to the camera housing. I wired mine just because the outlet was easy to get to and I did not want to forget to charge. Hope this helps?
