- Answer Sling tv and Slingbox are not the same. A Slingbox mirrors what would appear on your home tv, whether it is from cable or plain old rabbit ears antenna. It allows you to see remotely what is happening on your living room tv. It does NOT provide content, it only allows you to watch what is on your home tv when you are away from the house. If you have cable at home, you will see the same thing away. If you do not have any tv reception at home, the Slingbox will not provide content that doesn't exist already.

QuestionHow is using a sling box different from logging into say the Uverse app on a smart tv away from home? Is there a difference?

- Answer With the Slingbox, you will be viewing the content from the Uverse equipment (i.e. DVR) in your home. However, with the Uverse app, you are viewing the content streaming from the Uverse servers not your DVR.

QuestionI am anticipating getting fiber optic service. I've been told I need a Roku streaming device. Do I need a Slingbox M2 or similar device to use the services that Sling media offers? Or does the Roku device serve as access to the Sling service?

- Answer If you're referring to SlingTV where you pay a monthly fee, then you don't need the Slingbox M2.

- Answer You should be able to use any Internet connection you have already established on a device, so no, there is no further need to use vpn. As you have probably noticed, though, vpn makes everything slower.

QuestionI have "dish anywhere" that utilizes sling media and use it in Mexico. But there is so much buffering and finally it gives an error code message and quits. Would a sling box be any better or is it my internet connection in Mexico?

- Answer No, the Sling media box would give you the same problems as it is most likely your internet connection.

- Answer It should. The box connects to your NY cable box- the only caveat here is that your son will be controlling the NY cable box- he will be accessing what is being played on it- and can control it. It is a perfect set up if you can connect the Slingbox to an optimum box that is not watched when he is away. If it's attached to your ONLY cable box then he will see only what you are playing- OR he will be changing the channels you see on your TV.

- Answer if you are watching the same station as she wants to watch, then yes she can. if she or you change the channel to something else, you both get whatever station it was changed to. basically, you are remoting into your PA cable box and she can make changes to it while you are right there watching it!

- Answer My experience has been that only one person can view a stream at any given time. If another person comes to watch the app will ask if you want to boot the other person's active stream.

- Answer The Slingbox itself will not, but if the source you are hooking it too can receive them and the Slingbox can control it that source, you can view them.I have my Directv DVR hooked to my Slingbox. I can see everything on my DVR remotely using the Slingbox.
