We recommend the semi rigid vent kit because it is longer lasting than traditional kits, retains heat and lessens the chance of damage caused by fire.

My guess is that it's because the semi-rigid design tends to keep it more open and easier for the machine to exhaust through than many of the more flexible vent hoses. And, of course, people tend to recommend stuff that they want to sell you ...

Yes the dryer kit had to be purchased to have dryer installed. In owners manual it also has picture of it.

The two right-angle adapter sections allow you to turn those two corners between the back of your dryer and the wall without major variations in how the vent hose "crimps" when you push the dryer back into place. The mounted-height of the right-angle adapter on the dryer outlet or the vent pipe on the wall, whichever is taller, defines the distance between the dryer and the wall, with an otherwise straight-shot vent-hose between the right-angle adapters.
