You are correct - the Sony 810C is direct lit using a VA panel. The color saturation is excellent and it renders true black as well as any LED TV available today. For specs go to: http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x810c As far as comparing the Sonys and the Samsungs, what will be best for you depends on how you will be using the TV. If you watch a lot of movies in a darkened room, then the Sony is for you. If you play a lot of video games and watch TV in a well lit room, then the Samsungs might be a slightly better choice. If you want to include using the TV as a PC monitor, then you have no choice but to buy the Sony. Finally, the main difference between the Sony X810C and the X850C is the housing (850C is thinner), 3D functionality and premium remote (available online for $58) at a price difference of approx. $400-$500 greater for the X850C..The PQ is virtually the same for both TVs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Look at the ratings on www.rtings.com. they have a full scientific analysis of each tv (contrast and luminance). The 810 will have the best contrast out of all 3 tv's.
