A:AnswerPersonally, I'd look into buying the replacement ear cushion for your 985r set, and keep them if they're still at all functional. The sound quality or the 985r is so much superior to the garbled crap that comes out of the RF400.` The 985R does a great job of muffling out the ambient room noise, where as the RF400 doesn't. This becomes problematic when listening to the TV using the headphones while someone else is using the TV sound. Being able to hear both really sets up an echo.
A:AnswerHi Customer,
To isolate the issue, please try to connect the headphones to your smartphone using 3.5 headphone cable. If still the issue occur, send us an email at [email protected].

A:AnswerHi, Connecting, The base is not just a charger. It is the stereo transmitter that needs to be connected to a TV, digital music player, etc.: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4743/da265ba85491320863fd7b2651202bb7/47438071M.pdf -Vincent
A:AnswerI purchased one item—a headphone that was packaged in a box. It plugs into the TV. That is, it is not Bluetooth but rather the receiver for the headphones has a charger unit which also plugs into the TV via RCA cables (which I used because I have an older TV). I suppose if your TV has additional jacks, you could buy 2 sets of headphones. But they would be sold separately. BTW—these provide a good range (45 feet distant and downstairs from the TV or even outside) with solid sound. Worked out much better for me than originally purchased Bluetooth Sonys.
A:AnswerMy 94 year old mother has hearing loss. We bought these headphones so she could listen to her television. These headphones allow her to increase or decrease the sound volume, but do not affect the sound level in the room.
A:AnswerHi Saqib, this is a wireless RF headphones. You may consider other wireless headphones that don't require a transmitter like the WH-1000XM3. Please check https://www.sony.com/electronics/headphones/t/headband-headphones?features=bluetooth for the list of wireless headphones that you may like.
