Sony just got the phone certified through Verizon (https://twitter.com/SonyXperiaUS/status/1024731663979433985). You can use Verizon but are probably limited to LTE only coverage.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is the first GSM phone to work on Verizon and that started August of 2018. I know because I purchased it last night at Best Buy and they activated it for me on my existing Verizon plan. It took them a while to do it and more than half of the employees said it wouldn't work because in the past you could not make it work. However the girl helping me said the store had noted they successfully activated the Sony Xperia XA2 and she would help until it was working. It required a call to Verizon support where they entered "dummy" info to activate the line which obviously doesn't work but, does something that makes the 2nd attempt to activate with correct info go through fine. Being the 3rd person to get this done from a very busy Best Buy, took just over an hour and works great. Quick search of Verizon shows they won't even support CDMA any longer in 2020 and will apparently support GSM only after that point.
I would recommend:
