“The product overview states "Free recording with 24 hours rolling cloud and local storage" but I do not see that option anywhere in the app. The only recordings I see are the ones triggered by motion. Am I missing something here?”

Hi Kealii. I think you may have misunderstood this feature. This camera only has the option to record short clips whenever it detects motion, it cannot record continuously 24/7. All of the recordings you see in the playback screen for the last 24hrs are stored in the cloud. In addition the camera has an SD Card included and you can view clips further back which are saved on that card by tapping on the SD Card icon within the Playback screen. - SD, Swann Team.
