Thank you for your inquiry, Marlene. The PIR motion sensor works best up to 26ft (8 m). This is the distance it can reliably detect movement. While the spotlight can illuminate up to 100ft (30 m). So, when someone enters the detection zone within 26 ft, the system will trigger the lights and siren, and the spotlight can reach up to 100ft to light the area. Hope this helps. Mary - Swann Team
