You can call or receive a call to/from any number in the world as long as your contract includes calls to/from the country you make or receive calls to/from. Since Alaska is a part of the USA as is Hawaii you can get or make calls to them or receive calls as generally the usual arangement with the carrier covers all calls made in the USA and often Canada too.
