Hi SteveP, that is a great question! The EX is meant to signify having and Extra Battery [EX].

I recently bought the Tineco S12 EX from Best Buy and pondered the same question and speculated there would be no difference. I ordered mine online and had it shipped to my home and it was dropshipped to me direct from Tineco. There is no EX anywhere on the product or package and I suspect BB adds the extra letters so there can be no price matching. I really really like mine and I’m so glad I chose this over the Dyson V11.

Thank you very much. I even asked Tineco this question and they responded with a comparison against the S12 Pro EX which is a different model altogether so even they seemed confused.
