It should work, but using MoCa from main box only needs Coax Cable hookup for internet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have ours hooked up through the coax cable. My home is MoCA enabled. You should call your cable company to see if you have MoCA capabilities. If you do not have MoCA, go to Tivo's website ask them. They are quick to answer the phone and any questions you may have. I called Tivo multiple times before purchasing the Tivo system. I did purchase through Best Buy because of the better price.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Tivo says it requires a wired connection, but some people use them with a wifi to Ethernet bridge, if their wifi is fast enough. The mini is going to require an Ethernet cable, not a usb connection, because a usb adapter requires direct interaction with the computer to operate.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. it requres a direct connection either by ethernet or MoCa
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You may be able to get it to "work," but hotspots are still wireless and the adapter doesn't change this. In a sense, I have "wireless" since my ISP provides wireless 25 Mbps (they offer up to 50), but it converts to Ethernet before the signal enters my router. There is just too much data demand for a WiFi network to work. I have wi-fi on that same router and my TiVo can connect to the Internet by Wi-Fi or Ethernet literally a few feet away from both. With Wi-Fi, streaming television is constantly rebuffering. Ethernet works perfectly. By the way, it is a very high end router/wi-fi unit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will work but may cut out at times. Best to have it hard wired.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No the item must be connected by Ethernet or MoCa
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The USB wireless TiVo dongle will not work, however they do make an Ethernet dongle that is similar. I use this on one of my units, it acts like an Ethernet connection, requires a computer to setup.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, the TiVo Mini does not support using a USB WiFi adapter. The recommended way to hook it up is through a coax cable connection (like a normal cable box). It also supports using a hardwired Ethernet cable, but only if both your main TiVo box and your Mini are both connected via hardwired Ethernet connections. If you can't run a coax cable to your Mini, you could try using a wireless media access bridge or a powerline Ethernet adapter, those are not officially supported, but should work if you can reliably get at least a 100 Mbps link between your main TiVo box and the Mini. I have three TiVo Mini's, all hooked up via coax (MoCa) to a six-tuner TiVo. The system works very well and beats what you can get from your cable company hands down. Plus you only have to pay for one cable connection for the main TiVo instead of one per TV. With that and the savings on box rental, they pay for themselves inside of a year.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.TiVO mini has no wireless built in as it is not the ideal connection type. You can use MOCA through your Coax connection or a LAN cable via a wireless Bridge, this is not ideal but it does work. Your main TiVO dies need to be connected via MOCA or ethernet as well in order ro work. You can't have your main TiVO connected via wifi and have the mini work.. if the TiVO is not connected via a wired LAN cable, or MOCA it will not work with the mini. This is by design. I use MOCA and my setup works perfectly, so if that is an option for you it may be the best solution.
