Customers often highlight the ease of use, excellent picture quality, and smooth interface of the Mini. Many appreciate its compatibility with other TiVo boxes and the ability to stream content. While some users noted occasional lag and tuner limitations, the positive feedback on performance and ease of setup outweighs these concerns.

The mini is much larger than picture shows. Very hard to use in the tight places it would normally get used. Nice unit, but needs to be smaller like
Streaming units, like apple and others.

If you have an available ethernet connection at the TV location (or purchase an MCoA adapter, as I did), and have a TiVo that supports the Mini (like the new Roamio), this is a no-brainer. Setup is incredibly simple, and it just WORKS. No speed issues, no lagging. TIP: Activate the Mini first, then have the host TiVo box perform a connection to update its data. That should do it!

I've been a TiVo fan for over 15 years. The original motivation was to record and playback shows on my schedule and that was pretty much still the case until recently. I own two TiVo Series 3 HD units with lifetime service. The TiVo minis (I bought two) are paired to my new TiVo Roamio Plus and allow us to play/watch and/or record up to SIX channels simultaneously using just ONE multi-stream DableCard at $2 per month from Charter Spectrum. The two minis extend the full functionality of the Roamio to the connected TVs, including my Netfix and Amazon subscriptions. Searches include all sources - both broadcast and online. It's awesome. I was able to return 3 cable cards and two set top boxes that saves me $20 per month on my cable bill. Run, don't walk, to get your TiVo Mini if you already own a compatible TiVo system!

This is a great device for connecting our TiVO Bolt to another TV. It does everything it's supposed to do (mirror and stream from the Bolt) very well. I gave it 4/5 starts because of it's lack of WiFi and requiring either an Ethernet or MoCA hookup. From doing A LOT of research online, I know why TiVO didn't incorporate WiFi: too many variables in the equation to deliver streaming HD content. I get that, but I feel it should at least be an option as many routers can stream gigabit signals now.
I ended up using a TiVO Bolt to set up a MoCA network to the Mini (the Bolt has a built in MoCA 'router'). Again, after a bunch of research, I attempted this set up and it works exceedingly well. No streaming glitches to the Mini whatsoever. Just be prepared to do a little research and hopefully you have access to your coaxial cables in your home, it makes it a lot easier.

If i knew this unit did what it did I would have got it a long time ago!! You will need to have wireless bridge or a MoCA adapter. With out these items it will not work right out of the box. I have 2 wireless bridges one at each end using a Ethernet cable plugged in each and it works great. Stream live TV or watch recorded TV. I have the Roamio OTA cheapest one you can get. Heck this unit cost more than my Tivo did. If you have all the items to make this work buy it. Don't until you get them. It requires a wired internet connection via Ethernet cable or a MoCA connection. I am on antenna also so I don't need to have an antenna on the other tv to receive TV broadcast which is great!

Finally replaced my cable box in the bedroom with a TiVo Mini. If you have a TiVo Premier, Roamio, or Bolt, setup should be relatively painless. Here's my experience:
SETUP:
- I installed a MoCA filter where the cable enters my apartment. This is highly recommended if you live in an apartment/condo building. Even if you live in a single-family house, you should install this filter to eliminate the possibility of interference with your neighbors' cable system.
- If your house is wired with ethernet, you can use that instead of MoCA (assuming both your main TiVo box and the Mini can reach an ethernet port).
- If you use MoCA: you'll have to connect your main TiVo box directly to your router with an ethernet cable (you cannot use wireless). Go into the TiVo settings, enable MoCA in the network settings, and you're good to go.
- Connect the Mini to a cable outlet, plug it in, and follow the setup instructions.
Once that's done, the experience is seamless. The Mini is just as fast as my Roamio Plus and can view live TV and recordings with no issues. The guide, menus, remote control functions, etc. are all identical to the Roamio. I love that the remote is also RF-based like the Roamio, so no direct line-of-sight is required.
If you want to extend the TiVo experience to another TV without buying another costly box with service fees, the TiVo Mini is perfect.

I've got a Tivo Roamio in my home. Adding this little device, I'm able to do all the same things in another room, that I can with the main box. Watch live TV, stream shows from the net, Watch DVR'd recordings. All this will still not needing cable.

The mini is a great DVR whole home solution as long as the Bolt is connected to your home network by Ethernet. The Bolt will not create a MoCa network over existing coax if it is using wireless to access the network. You can 'trick' the Bolt but using a wireless to Ethernet bridge but it not recommended. It's faster than the Genie clients that DirecTV use for multi room viewing too.

The TiVo Mini is fantastic! I have a Bolt in my living room and the Mini in my bedroom. The Mini allowed me to remove a CableCard from my cable account, saving me money every month. Also, I don't have to pay for a second TiVo service, which saves even more money each month.
If you have multiple TiVo's in the house, this Mini is a great way to save some money. It works best when you set it up with a MoCA connection, essentially seamless without lag (but a few dropped signals on occasion). The only warning for multiple TiVo box users: The Mini uses a tuner from your "base" TiVo box, so if you have multiple Mini's in the house, you may need a 6 tuner TiVo. Currently I have my Mini connected to my 4 tuner Bolt and it works perfectly.

I was a little unsure how easy it would be to set this thing up and then how well it would work - well, it works great. Set up over ethernet (my home is wired) was easy, and it allows us to watch TV in another room in the house (we have a Bolt in the main TV viewing area). Its pretty quick, responsive, and reliable.

Talked with sales man Brent at tulsa 71/169 store and he is a cord cutter himself and has the same system ( tivo plus mini), so a trusted him and cut the cord, and boy am I glad I did, it has saved my family $117 a month and I feel we are getting more quality programming now than with cable. we got the lifetime service so all we pay is $99 a year to prime and I watch any thing i want for free. If it is a series that is not free it is normally 19.99 on average for 12-15 shows so that's about $1.25-1.57 per show so may monthly cost to watch tv is ($99 for prime per yr) $8.25 a month plus + 4 (series like ax men) $1.57 x 4 = $6.28 and they air weekly so that would be times 4 weeks = $25.12 so $8.25 (prime)+ $25.12(series)= 33.37 a month to watch more programming than I was paying for cable. I have had the system for a month and a half and I love it we watch 5 hrs of tv a day and I could not go back to cable after this. I have had "o" problems and just love the user friendliness of the system

I purchased the TiVo Bolt and Minis to replace an existing MOXI 3-Tuner HD DVR when Comcast did the MPEG-4 upgrade rendering that unit unable to receive some HD channels. The minis are hooked up via ethernet and the performance on them is very good. There is little lag when changing stations and other operations and the picture quality is good. The setup required a call to TiVo support and a combination of connecting to the TiVo service on my Bolt a few times followed by a power cycle. This was not indicated in the setup guide, however TiVo support was fast and friendly and solved my setup issues.

This product was easy to set up and works great as an addition to your primary TiVo. Please note that this is not a stand alone product and as long as you have a compatible TiVo, it's pretty great to have in another room without having to pay additional charges.

This is an great product, buy it once and done. Not only can we skip the monthly charge of a digital adapter on a 2nd TV we also have access to the TIVO recordings on our main TIVO. We plan on adding another TIVO mini now that we have seen how convenient it is.

After buying a Roamio, I knew I had to buy the minis to complete my setup. These guys act just like the Roamio with the except of no video window when browsing and there is a slight delay when changing channels. The price was perfect considering there is no additional fees nor dome have to get additional cable cards. Be sure to buy a MoCa filter if using Coax.

Works as Advertised, easy to setup and use! Did take a quick phone to activate, but has the same level of picture and sound quality as main TiVo OTR @ half the cost. We canceled DirecTV & have never looked back. Would highly recommend to anyone within range for local TV over Antenna. Unit is fast and guide service is better than anything on the market. This is by far the best way to cut the cord.

We had Direct for years....our bill was over $200/month and the mini genie never worked well (big house). We bought the TiVo Bolt and mini, added a cable card and are saving $159/month! Even with the initial price for the TiVo we will save nearly 40% the first year! It works better than the genie mini too! Out also integrates all your online apps--Amazon, Netflix, Humu, YouTube, and more!!!

I ditched my Dish, and got a Tivo Roamio DVR and a "Mini" tivo expander box for my second TV. Works great. Don't understand why it's $150, and no wireless?
So the hitch to using the mini to connect additional TVs to your tivo DVR is that the DVR and the mini MUST be connected by ethernet or coax to your home internet network. Even thought the Tivo DVR alone can connect wirelessly. So it can make set up more of a pain.
All in all though, The Roamio DVR for $50 and one mini gives me a $200 setup for 2 TVs, a cheap $15 antenna, and only $15 a month (plus $8 for netflix)... and gives us all the HD programming we need (since we need internet in addition anyway).
