A:AnswerWi-Fi is not always 100% reliable for HD video streaming 24 hours a day.
I have 5 Tivo Mini's. I wouldn't want my Internet connection taking that hit all the time. Besides you can use your coax in your house with it for network connections. It doesn't even add traffic to your existing ethernet connection.
A:AnswerNo the Mini is not wifi. If you don't have a ethernet connection, you can use something called MoCa connection which works over your coaxial cable that's what I use and it works just fine. The TiVo Roamio Plus and Pro are able create the network.
A:AnswerTito mini will NOT record any programs. All recordings will be done with your main Tivo unit (mine is a Roamio). The Tivo mini allows you to view the recordings made on the main unit. There is no hard drive in the Tivo mini.
A:AnswerDon't remember what it stands for--Google it. Basically you are creating a closed network. Your Tivo box (not mini) isn't by an ethernet port so you create a closed network using your coaxial cable you already are using from your cable company. Best to call Tivo customer service--they are great and will spend whatever time is needed to get the settings just right. I use a MoCa network--can be tricky to set up the first time and then adding a tv down the road is easy.
A:AnswerCharter techs may tell you that they only support two tuners because that is what they offer. But that is not true. I have Charter cable and I am able use all four tuners at one time.
A:AnswerYes I believe so. I have a premier and a Roamio, and they both work.
It's a little work getting the systems to recognize the mini, but I called Tivo and they walked me thru it. It works good.
The mini gives you the option on which box you want to watch or you can go to live TV. It's exactly what I needed, but it is on the larger side. It's not as small as the picture makes it out, this is the only draw back.
A:AnswerYes I actually have two tivo mini's extending a TIVO Bolt through MOCA cabling. It is acutally easier because the Bolt does built-in bridging of your internet/cable for MOCA connectivity.
A:AnswerYou can wire yout Tivo mini by cat5 cable to your router, not directly to the main Tivo dvr. You can also use existing cable in your house if the router is set up as MOCA.
A:AnswerYes the RF does pair to a specific mini. I do not know how many different remotes can be paired. I know tis because my wife grabbed the remote for the unit in my office yesterday and it kept changing my channels not hers.
A:AnswerHitting info while on a show will bring up a small description screen on the lower half of the screen.
Use the arrow keys to move the highlighted field to the Left.
Then navigate down to the closed captioning option.
Other option may be under the 'settings' menu from "My Tivo" screen.
A:AnswerYes, as far as I can tell there is no limitation to what you can watch at each location. You for sure can watch anything from the recorded list, live TV, or steaming each independently. The only thing I haven't tried is watching the exact same show from the recorded list (My Shows) at both locations at the same time.
