A: The RAM installed is 2×8GB modules of DDR5-5600. The brand of RAM is Samsung, and the RAM model number is M425R1GB4PB0-CWMOL. There is only 1×M.2 2280 Gen 4 SSD slot running on x4 channels. The installed brand of SSD installed is Sandisk, which is a 512GB module with the model number SDEPNSJ-5126-1006. Some people have mentioned that their machine has a Samsung M.2 card. If Upgrading: Be sure to note that the RAM modules supported are 2×8GB DDR5-5600, 2×16GB DDR5-5600, and 2×32GB DDR5-4800. If you upgrade to the max capacity, you will not be able to use the Overclocked RAM speeds, and the motherboard officially supports DDR5-4800 up to 64GB total or DDR5-5600 [Overclocked] up to 32GB total. Be sure to note that the maximum supported SSD drive capacity is 4TB, and it must be Gen 4 or earlier, this will support a Gen 5 module, but it will perform at Gen 4 speeds. Do not use a SSD with a heatsink, as it will not fit properly, and will not be cooled properly. I hope you find this information useful. I do not work for Best Buy and am not associated with them at all. It took trial and error along with research to find the information pertaining to the RAM speeds supported by the motherboard.
A: Yes
Q: Could i add more ssd storage?
A: From what I gather, there is only 1 M.2 slot for SSDs, but you can clone the existing drive to a larger drive and use that to boot into. If I had to guess, you can put any size M.2 NVME drive (I think it's a 4x4 PCIE M.2 slot), but anything over 2TB is still expensive.
Q: I thought HP laptops that use DDR5 ram is NOT upgradeable since the RAM is soldered to the board.
A: LPDDR5 is the ram that is soldered, DDR5 is the ram you can upgrade
A: TL;DR The cpu is good and the laptop is on hp's website. This laptop is a specific configuration of the 2025 HP Victus model lineup. The cpu is from Q2 2025, so it is very new, and if you follow the laptop buying guide from Linus Tech Tips (recommended), you'll find that based on the naming scheme it has a zen 4 architecture (which is good). The cpu is comparable to the AMD Ryzen 5 AI 340, a more known processor, and it will be sufficient for most casual and gaming tasks, unless they are very cpu intensive, which might require a processor with more cores. It can boost up to 4.7 GHz, which is very respectable. As for the cost, both this Cpu and gpu combo at $650 is incredibly cheap compared to other options. Also, the ability to upgrade your ram and ssd makes this a good option for old games or new games at medium graphics or high graphics at lower fps (this machine can handle beamng.drive on medium to high graphics at 30+ fps which is more than enough for me). I'd have to do more testing to really answer this but for now I'd definitely recommend it.
A: DDR5-5600 see “specifications” I can’t answer about gaming as I don’t, but it’s not a bargain basement integrated GPU. this includes an NVIDEA GeForce RTX 4050 GPU so look up specs but it’s certainly well, far, far above a CPU with integrated graphics.
Q: Are the RAM and SSD user upgradable? And if so, what are the maximum sizes supported?
A: According to Crucial, you can upgrade to 64GB RAM and 4TB of storage (either NVMe or NAND).
A: No. This uses a Barrel Connector charger only. The USB-C port is for data and runs at USB 3.0 speed. It does allow for charging a device such as a smartphone through Power Delivery from the laptop.

I bought this laptop from the summer until now, so here is what I see and feel after using it for about 3 months. First of all, the design is quite simple, modern, not too "bulky" like many other gaming laptops, and in terms of quality, although it is a plastic shell, it is solidly finished, not flimsy. However, the surface is quite easy to get fingerprints. I'm not too sure about the screen, I'm just a normal person who buys it for use, so I don't know about this issue, but I see good colors, the brightness is just enough for use in the room. Talking about performance, I find it very stable for gaming and working, I'm a light gamer and do things that are not too high, so my fan is not too noisy, when playing games (not too heavy games) the laptop fan is not too noisy. Talking about just working, not playing games, I feel that it has no fan noise at all, it is not noisy. When I bought the laptop, I was quite hesitant to buy it because I was afraid that the fan noise would be as loud as other Gaming laptops, but after I bought it, I was very satisfied with my Victus 15 Laptop. The keyboard is good to type on, the key travel is moderate, and there is a simple white backlight. The battery life is not impressive - not too long for mixed use. One thing I am not happy and satisfied with is that my laptop's WIFI often drops for a few seconds and then I have to reconnect. I don't know if this is due to my laptop or Windows. I think I will need to ask Best Buy about this. Right now everything is fine, only the WIFI is abnormal. Thank you for taking your time to read this little Review of mine.

The HP Victus 15.6″ gaming laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS, 16 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 for just $639.99—a fantastic deal considering its full-HD 144 Hz display and snappy performance. Best Buy So far, I’ve been using it mostly for gaming—and it delivers. I was able to run the Battlefield 6 Beta, PUBG, and Arma Reforger easily. Frame rates were solid, and visuals looked great thanks to the high-refresh panel. As expected from a gaming machine, the fans can get loud under load, but that’s completely normal. When I’m not gaming, though, it’s eerily quiet, which is a nice contrast that balances performance with everyday usability. Battery life and thermals have been manageable so far. The laptop stays relatively cool during normal use, though you’ll definitely want to game near a power outlet. Why I Gave It a High Rating: Excellent value: Packed with mid-high-end specs at a surprisingly low price. Strong gaming chops: Handles modern titles smoothly, including beta releases. Quiet during light tasks: No fan distraction when not gaming. Solid build & display: The 144 Hz Full-HD panel really elevates the gaming experience. A Couple of Notes: Fan noise under heavy gaming: Consider using headphones or setting fan curves if the noise gets distracting. Memory/Storage Expansion? If you plan to handle large game libraries or heavy multitasking, you might want to upgrade RAM or add extra storage down the line.

As someone who sells electronics back in Bulgaria I can tell you, this laptop is worth the price especially if it's on sale. I got mine for around 650-700$ or something along that. The display, keyboard and battery life are great. It performs good in games and in drawing/animating software. The GPU and CPU render videos and drawings fast. A few things to consider tho, Ryzen CPU paired with Nvidia GPU is not the best but it works (personal preference is to pair Ryzen CPU with Radeon GPU and Intel CPU with Nvidia GPU). If you are going to use it mainly for gaming go ahead but buy a cooling pad/system for it (it doesn't overheat fast but it can get pretty warm if you keep it on your legs) and when you play for more than 30min-1h on a DEMANDING game, it's better to plug it in, otherwise the battery will be depleted. Overall it's a nice and solid pick for such a price.
