As long as you have a neutral wire on your existing switch, this will act like a regular switch and it will work. However, it will not control the speed of the fan if you have a variable speed.

This functions exactly like a regular switch when activated manually, the added benefit is you can also trigger via the app or via Google Assistant / Alexa. I also use this for a fan and it works perfectly however it will only do on / off.
