The switch does not say it is for outdoor use but if the switch was installed in a waterproof housing or with a UL rated Water proof cover than there should be no problems. You also need to check on the WIFI range where you would mount the switch otherwise you might need to but a WIFI extender like Deca etc. There are very few switches rated for damp areas or enclosures. The housing is the most important part especially to be code legal. The other answer is that the switch will work on any exterior light , lights or plug. There would be no issues with operation if the switch location was on the interior of the building or home.
