“Does this require it to be grounded to work? I know it needs a neutral which I checked and I saw I have but I live in an older home and the electrical isn't grounded. Would it still work with load, line, and neutral lines only?”

No it doesn’t need to be grounded to work. But I grounded it to wall box with a ground screw. Yes it would work with load line & neutral line only.
