Hi! The HS200 can control the power state (On/Off) of one single pole circuit. If your fan has multiple control functions, it may require a special switch (or in many modern fan designs, it may come with a remote control). The HS200 cannot replace these multi-function switch types.

Please try again later.This is an on/off type of switch that replaces a single pole (does 1 function and doesnt work for a power circuit that uses more than 1 switch like most hallway lights have a light switch at both ends to control a single light function). To replace a switch for a ceiling fan that controls power, fan, and light, it's a specific one that does all of the functions from the switch too. They usually have multiple buttons and a dial type button on them that are similar to the "dumb" switch design.

Truthfully, you will need two to control the light and fan separately, If your original gang plate has two individual switches for light and fan separately - get two. Good luck!
