• If you activate a TracFone and don't add "days or minutes," it will stop working, but you can go up to a year without adding money to it if you add/purchase a "365 days" card. That's what I do since I don't use my phone much and it's the cheapest option I've found. I pay less than $100 every year and the minutes I don't use roll over.
