• A:Answer You buy a prepaid tracfone card ( $20, $40 etc). The phone will stay active for 90 days. At or before the 90 days you add another prepaid card for another 90 days. The minutes will roll over.

• A:Answer Adding the phone numbers would really be if the salesperson was willing to do it for you. It really is not that hard to do it yourself, it is just time consuming depending on how many phone numbers you have. There are many options for the number of minutes and days of service, just go to the Tracfone site or shop at where you bought your phone. Yes, you can transfer your exiting number to the Tracfone. Your best bet is to contact the Tracfone customer service, I have called them three times in 6 years and never had a problem or difficulty with them handing my problem.

• A:Answer There is no need to unlock your phone. You just need to purchase the special SIM card included on the BYOP activation kit. In order to keep your service active, you must add a new service card on your due date. Smartphones have separate buckets of units for voice calls, text messaging and data usage and have the Triple Minutes feature. For example, a 60 minutes “Pay As You Go” TracFone card redeemed on a smartphone will provide 180 minutes for voice, 180 text messages and 180 MB of data. Voice calls are charged at the rate of one (1) unit per minute. Text messages are charged at the rate of one (1) unit per text. Data is charged based on actual usage.

• A:Answer If you activate a TracFone and don't add "days or minutes," it will stop working, but you can go up to a year without adding money to it if you add/purchase a "365 days" card. That's what I do since I don't use my phone much and it's the cheapest option I've found. I pay less than $100 every year and the minutes I don't use roll over.
