“Do I need an Xbox adapter to plug it into my Xbox one controller?”

if you have the old controller yes if you have the 3.5mm controller no

As long as your controller has an audio jack port on the bottom of the controller you won’t need an adapter. If the sound isn’t loud enough initially after plugging in your headset you can adjust it in the Xbox console settings: ‘devices & accessories’ —> ‘more options’ —-> ‘volume’ Once you’re happy with the volume you’ll still be able to adjust it from the headset control itself.

No you don’t need an adapter for any of the newer Xbox One controllers. They all come with a headphone jack on the bottom of the controller. Hope this helps.
