Yes. I actually did what you are trying to do. I went to the local verizon store and they did everything for me within ten minutes. If you have a good store near you with good customer service you wont have any problems.

Move the sim card from your existing phone over if it is the same size, or call verizon to move your service from the old sim to the one included in the package if yours is the wrong size, missing, or damaged. If you want to move anything that is saved on your old phone, you may need a migration app, or to save to a cloud service first.

If you choose to activate phone and set up new number it won't transfer your balance. If you want a different number transfer your old number then change it once the phone is set up
