The base phone I purchased is model cs5129, and it is my understanding that it is similar to the cs5119. Both of these phones are compatible with add on phone model cs5109 which I just put into use two days ago.. I am experiencing no static/hum/interference with my system

A VTech CS5119 and VTech CS5129 handsets are similar, however, you cannot just add an additional base station and expect all handsets to function with each other. More over, adding a CS5129 will not fix hum, static or interference from another base. Likely, your CS5119 base may be having issues with its operation.
