works with both but you would need to use disk utiltiy on the Mac to reformat for the Mac OS to utilize. Easy to do and worth it.

Yes but it requires you to format it so it can work with MacBooks.

The drive works with both operating systems. However, it does not work with both at the same time. You can partition the drive to work with both machines, but files cannot be accessed from the Windows machine that was put on there with the Mac, or vice versa. I have two drives, one for my mac and the other for my windows both acting as backups.
