are you attempting to switch between MAC and PC products? You might need to reformat

Once you hook it up to the PS and let it format it to work with the playstation it is only usable for the playstation it is no longer compatible with your computer. Also there is no way to reverse format it, once you have it for the playstation that is the only thing it will ever be compatible with.
