“I take a lot of gopro video on trips I take. Can I transfer the video on the micro sd card to this device until I can get to my PC at home just looking for something to store pics and videos on while I travel so I don't have to take a ton of SD cards.”

You will not be able to transfer the video from the Micro SD directly onto the portable HD. You will need to store the video onto your PC/Mac and then onto the HD.
