In theory, this "could" be used as a NAS drive, but the constant read/write needed for NAS would wear on this hardware. However, using its USB 3.0 capability and connecting to a NAS (such as the WD MyCoud EX2) would be great for an extension of the drive; even better, as a backup device for your NAS!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This is a USB 3.1 drive - only. It has no direct network (ethernet) connection. NO, it cannot be used as an NAS drive. It is, however, a very good direct backup drive for your laptop. It is lightweight, does not require additional power, and reasonably fast. I use it as a direct backup on my laptop.
