• Yes it will work. Once you hook it up to your xbox. Go into system settings , Storage And you will see the option to use this as a media device for recording videos (gameplay) or for Games and apps. For more information on setting up an external drive with the xbox you can go to there website or youtube. The Xbox will format the drive.

• Yes, it powers via the USB cable and it will work just fine with an xbox. It does require formatting for the xbox, but the xbox will take care of it for you.

• Yes, plug and play. It wouldn't hurt to back up/copy included softwares (backup, etc) and then format once connected to a console, but not necessary.
