If I shut the switch off manually does it deactivate the controls from the phone? If a person in the home shuts the switch off manually, can I use my phone the next day to still control the lights? Or do I need to turn the switch back on?

I don't know what you actually mean by deactivate the controls... but if someone manually pushes the button, you will STILL have access to the switch via phone regardless if it's ON or OFF. If someone turns the switch ON, you will see that it's ON on your app, vise-versa.

For the WeMo Light Switch, you can manually turn off the switch and turn it back on with your phone. The original ON and OFF positions are replaced with a single button that toggles on and off.

If you were using the WeMo Smart Bulbs, then if you turn the switch to the light off, you won't be able to turn it on with your phone.

It will not affect your controls if you manually turn off the switch. You can still control it from your phone (as long as you have a good Wi-Fi connection and power to your switch).

Using your phone to control the switch is essentially just like you are standing there with someone and you alternate flipping the switch on and off. If someone manually shuts off the light, you can immediately turn it back on.

Turning off the light switch just turns off the light (and shows that status in the app). The app continues to work either way.

The manual and phone controls are independent. If somebody manually turns the switch off, you can immediately turn it back on using your phone. The manual switch is a momentary push-button type switch where you push it in and it returns to the original position. Each time it is pushed in, the switch toggles either from on to off or from off to on.

In my experience the mobile application will continue to be able to control the switch even if someone has pressed it to turn it off or on. The mobile application should display the switches current status and allow you to change it.

Hi, JAWC. Once the switch is turned off manually, you'll need to manually turn it on first before you can locally or remotely control it using the WEMO app.
