You probably need a better smart router or a mesh router.

I had the same problem initially. I just called my internet support and asked them to "change channels". It's not a WEMO problem, it really is more likely, your internet.

I havnt had any problems with the Wemo app or the mini Smartplug. Works great! I have cameras inside & outside of my home so I can check in and make sure all is fine. The lights turn on/off just as Iv scheduled them. No issues. It could be your wifi at your home or your device thats causing issues.
