“How far from the Internet router can the camera be? I want to use in garage to monitor dog going in and out to kennel. garage is about 50 feet from router location. have same question for the cheaper camera also.”

It will not work, i tried that myself, same range,. This has weak wifi connection. Go with D-Link if it's going to be that far.
