If you think you might take advantage of the discount on services, it's a good deal. I thought all the services were set at a certain price, but they were, rather, discounted at a certain rate. Not a bad deal for a big purchase appliance (in this case, a TV), b/c it got the extended warranty (5 years) plus the ability to extend another 5 years after the first 5 expire at today's dollars.

TL;DR: We bought a service plan on a brand new 55" TV which has been broken/non-functional since approximately 90 days of ownership. Two months later and Geek Squad has failed to repair or replace the set. I would honestly stay away from both this set and Best Buy service plans. You're not getting your money's worth. We bought this TV after our order from Amazon was delivered with a smashed screen. We went with Best Buy as we've had good experiences with them previously, plus I wanted to go ahead and purchase from a local retailer. I picked it up on the day I ordered it online which was nice. Unfortunately the TV worked for about a month and a half, after using it not more than a couple times a week. I purchased the Geek Squad service plan immediately. It took them two weeks to even come look at the set, and even then they didn't show up in person. They called me and diagnosed over the phone. Their diagnosis based on the flashing codes was a bad controller board. They had the board delivered to our house. It then took them 3 weeks to come to our house to replace the part. The agent was nice, but after replacing the board the TV was still broken. Because had to "follow Sony's guidance" he was forced to just go down the line replacing PCB boards in the set until the issue was fixed. He ordered another set of boards and left without scheduling anything, promising a call later that week. The call never came, but the parts did. He showed up unexpectedtly last week on Monday to replace the parts (we are now two months into this saga). Surprise surprise, the parts didn't fix the TV either. Unfortunately "Sony has to make the determination whether we continue by replacing the panel or replacing the whole TV." It's now been over a week and I've received no phone call, no email, no indication whatsoever that Best Buy intends to actually fix this and make good on their service plan.

For your television investment..already paying 800+ what's another 200?

A must have due to any freaking accident that can ruin a lovely 4k tv.

I would recommend others to purchase the protection plan on all TVs. Well worth it

best buy was helpful enough to get this after the fact.

So far we haven't had to use it. So I'll let you know when we do.
