SSD speed is the way to go. No exceptions for playing todays games. The M.2 SSD prices are still way to high in comparison to the now common SATA SSD drives and the performance advantages have not been noticeable in my experience. I used up the 256 GB M.2 SSD in no time and had to go right back and buy a 1 TB SATA SSD within weeks. The core of this system is what you want to start with anyway (main board and processor). The GeForce 1070 video card is very good but I went ahead and upgraded to the 1080 after checking out multiple reviews - Not that the 1070 wasn't getting the job done, I just don't want to buy another thing for this rig for at least 3 years. Very pleased with performance and chassis design. I've been in and out of it about 7 times already and it just get's easier. Worthwhile investment if it lasts as long as my last Dell product.

I love this computer. It is blazing fast, they only use 1 of the 4 RAM slots so it's easy to expand the RAM. My only two complaints are that they aren't liquid cooling the CPU anymore and it tends to run a little hot and the AlienFX will randomly turn off and not come back on unless I restart.

It does what it says. Had to return the first one due to a GPU failure. The replacement has been able to run everything like a 1070 would. ONE MAJOR COMPLAINT. The PSU is super loud when you play heavy games on it. I have a logitech 480 or 470 headset so it doesnt bother me. But i did notice it when i took the headset off. But it is seriously loud. Dell cant help, says to replace the PSU if needed. So only warning.

Was torn between trying to build one or purchase a compete PC. Ended up going with this monster, and haven't regretted the choice yet! Plays all games at Ultra settings and has stayed pretty quiet so far. Fans do get a little loud when multitasking while gaming. Don't notice it much with headset on. Highly recommend!

This desktop is a great size and has all the power I need as an architecture student. I have no problem running multiple programs at once as well as high level renderings. It isn't silent when it is running but it is quiet enough that I don't notice it running. Overall a great machine for a really reasonable price!

I love this thing, I can run any game I want at ultra settings with out skipping a frame

Let me start off by saying I first purchased the Alienware AW17R4 gaming laptop, and while it performed better than most gaming laptops at its price the heat and fan noise was a little overwhelming. I have always gamed on consoles and desktops but I tried a laptop and didn't go too well. I guess that old saying "Laptop gaming is a myth" is really true unless you wanna spend $3,000 or up. This Desktop is AMAZING. After I got all my games downloaded it had no problems handling everything I threw at it. I played Overwatch, Battlefield 4, Star Wars Battlefront, GTA V, Dead Rising 4, Just Cause 3, and Watch Dogs 2, on Maxed out setting and never dipped below 75 FPS on anything. The temps. never got high either, the CPU got to about 51 C and the GPU 72 C was the hottest. I never had any problems with the PSU Fan like others are experiencing. The customizable ability of this desktop is great. Room for another GPU, 4 Slots for RAM, I saw at least 2 slots for 2.5" SSD or HDD, the swinging out PSU was a great innovation. Honestly I'm not that upset about not having the water cooler on the CPU, because I've read that the fan on those models just pushes the heat straight onto the handle at the top. Watch Dogs 2 was the thing I was most excited to test because the AW17R4 was struggling staying at 60FPS. Overall I could see having this PC for 5-6 years with adding upgrades before finally having to buy a new one!

There is nothing to say bad about Alienware products. This is my second Alienware computer. And I'm VERY happy with it. Very fast, easy to upgrade. I love how they've compartmentalized everything so well that it's no-mess-maintenance. The graphics in games are the best!

Great machine overall, cost isnt too marked up for what you get. Ended up returning it because the fan was ridiculous loud. Sounds like a vacuum and after research online, its a common issue with the PSU fan.

I was hesitant at first to buy this because I have read other reviews that said this computers fan was loud. Not sure what they were talking about. This thing is quite and will run anything you throw at it. I use it for VR and no issues what so ever!

So far I've been very pleased with this machine. I had kept a 7-year-old XPS going, but when it's power supply went bad I decided to start over fresh. This computer has been great. It's quiet, plays everything in 1080 with setting maxed and was easy to setup. The only problem I've had with it is I've got it hooked up to a monitor and a 65" Samsung TV, and for some reason when you turn the TV on it will randomly reboot the whole computer. It doesn't happen every time, but enough to be annoying. I've updated the graphics drivers and if that fixes it, I'll adjust to five stars. But still overall worth every penny for what you get.

I am in the graphics industry so I purchased this computer to work. It saves me time since I use very large files and complex programs. Excelent to work with graphics....I guess will work great for gamers as well!

Everything runs nicely on it, including all modern games. It’s quiet, and only made noticeable fan noise when it was rendering an animation from Blender. Otherwise you don’t hear it.

I bought this computer for a racing simulator and absolutely loved it. Graphics look awesome. Very fast computer. Works great with iRacing and dirt rally. And Logitech wheel and pedal set.

This computer is very fast and powerful. Not sure you could power a NASA satellite with it, but it wouldn't surprise me. You couldn't build it for this price. Very fast gaming computer.

This is a great machine. I cannot say enough good things about it. It is fast, the picture is so much better than my old computer, and it has memory for days! very happy with it!

Fast and smooth! I love it. Easy set up and has pretty cool extras I never expected. One review said it was loud but seems very quiet to me and is sitting right next to monitor.

This unit has enough strength to do anything one could want. No upgrades needed. Pushed graphics settings and processor hard with extreme games and it didn't break a sweat.

I really like the performance, but the fans are kind of loud when the graphics are being taxed. At least it is keeping cool.

I've been wanting a new system for years and came across this system on sale. WOW It's Fast and the graphics awesome. should have bought a new system sooner.
