why? 1 apple updates their products for a long time - other router manufacturers may never patch known security holes. 2 reliability: Apple makes good hardware, in my experience much more reliable than the linksys, and netgears of the world I have to keep at least one apple/windows device around to work with it, as it uses apples software to update/configure, and they don't have a linux version, but that and the price are the only downsides. But totally worth it on both counts.

Much better signal strength than the smaller airport express or the older extreme. Easy to use and set up.

I unpackaged the Apple - Airport, plugged it in as instructed and that was really all I had to do. It, for all practical purposes, installed itself! I've only had it installed for about three weeks, but it seems to be working great. No complaints so far, and I would definitely recommend it.

I needed a router to replace the linksys I had purchased to get better coverage in my home since I have plaster walls instead of sheetrock - and it seemed like the signal degrades through the thicker material. After a friend suggested I try the Apple Extreme I thought I'd give it a try. Absolutely no regrets. I love it. I've also added an Apple Express to the mix to get even more coverage out by the pool.

This router is great very easy to configure.And has multiple applications.

This router requires nearly no knowledge of home networking to setup and use. If you have a modem/router from your internet provider, no biggie; you can still setup the router to hand out IP addresses by setting your cable modem NAT mode to Bridged. I purchased this to be able to handle modern download/uploads speeds provided by my internet provider (300mb down / 20mb up).

Had other routers, had problems with them (conflicts, short range), but so far my experience with the WI-FI function on this Apple Airport Extreem has been great. Only wish they had a version with much larger range.

Had a problem getting signal to all corners of my 3 floor house. This soves it.

I bought this to replace a 5 year old Apple time capsule. Absolutely smokes my old time capsule in speed and range. Great product!

This wireless router puts out a fast signal at my home for all my products including 2 TV's, 2 Laptops and 2 smartphones. Majority of these products are Apple but that's just because I prefer them for the best.
