Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the AirPort Extreme Base Station's ease of use, range, and performance. Many also highlight the strong signal strength and relatively easy setup process, resulting in great coverage. However, some customers find the price to be a bit high. A few also mention that the size could be smaller and that more Ethernet ports would be beneficial.

Great router that took less then 5 minutes to setup. It is much easier to setup on Mac than a windows computer but can still be done. Mac users also get time machine backups which is great for all types of users (students, work, etc).

The Airport unit was easy to hook up, instructions were very clear and it was no problem even for a novice like me. Performance is just what I expected from another fine APPLE product. Can't say enough good stuff about this unit.

We had a Airport express for our 2400 sq. foot home which worked fine, but we moved to a different part of town in a house that was only a tad bit larger and our WiFI was not as good. Switching to the Airport Extreme fixed this with ease

I've got 4 of these set up and it covers our entire facility at church. They look nice no matter where you place them. Seems to play well with other wireless extenders when we've had to use them in the past.

Even in a brick house WiFi range is incredible. My I- pad gets four bars in the entire yard. They are a little pricey but so aren't the other routers with A/C. Can't wait to give a true test when other a/c capable hardware is available.

I've had an Airport Extreme in the past, then I switched to an Airport Express since I was living in a smaller apartment and now I am back at an Airport Extreme due to the lack of LAN ports on the Airport Express (although I knew this going into the Express I just only had a single LAN connection that I needed before, but that has changed recently). The Airport is as beautiful as you'd expect with it being an Apple product. Normal routers are cheap, light plastic. They're bulky, complicated to setup and in most cases the support for them is based overseas. The Airport has some weigh to it, yet it's very space saving and easy to setup. Setup can be done from a computer (Mac or PC) or iPhone/iPad/iPod touch. It's fast, it covers a wide area and offers more than enough LAN (up to three with gigabit speeds) and wireless connections (up to 50 at once!) to suit my needs. The current generation Airport Extreme is a little pricer than the previous generation so if you want to save some money, you may consider the 802.11n version which is currently priced a little over $150. The support (in terms of how many devices actually utilize) 802.11n is still relatively light at this time, but give it a year and 802.11ac will most likely be the new Wireless-N. One last cool feature on these is beamforming. Beamforming currently only works on the latest generation of MacBook Air, but you'll most likely see it in future versions of iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac. This base station has SIX antennas (versus four in previous generations) and it knows where an 802.11ac device is on the network. Then AirPort Extreme targets its signal to that device. So your Wi‑Fi signal is stronger, clearer, and faster. If you don't have a backup solution in place, currently, and you are a Mac user I'd highly recommend the Time Capsule version of this which includes 2-3TB of storage. I already have a NAS so I opted to just do the Extreme.

I'm always a bit cautious when purchasing any networking devices. They're not in my wheel house and I lean towards items that require very little to setup. This did not disappoint and a 4th grader could install it.

I purchased the Apple - Airport Extreme Base Station because my existing Cisco / Linksys wireless network was limiting the amount of devices I could add to my smart home and some of the devices would have weak signals behind concrete walls. The Airport extreme allows 50 devices per access point to allow for all of the smart bulbs, Honeywell thermostats, apple tv, ring doorbell, blink cameras and other smart devices to run seamlessly without wires. Perfect for a mid-century modern smart home.

Apple -easy to use. Installed to extend Apple network in my home. Installed on shelf in finished basement, wife thinks it looks like "sculpture". My install is cable modem to Airport Extreme in finished basement to Time Capsule on first floor to Time capsule on second floor. Improved Wi-Fi performance of all wireless products in our home. Apple products are pricey, but ease of use and reliability are worth it.
