Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the AirPort Extreme Base Station's ease of use, range, and performance. Many also highlight the strong signal strength and relatively easy setup process, resulting in great coverage. However, some customers find the price to be a bit high. A few also mention that the size could be smaller and that more Ethernet ports would be beneficial.

    Fantastic Router

Recommended by the Geek Squad who installed my TV, this router worked perfectly out of the box. For Apple devices it is simple to set up using the Airport Utility app. Setting up on a PC is also effortless. The sleek design allowed me to "hide" it in the open. Great product!

I purchased this because my Netgear router was having issues continually disconnecting. This router, though it's 802.11ac, doesn't seem noticably faster than the previous 802.11n Netgear on any of my devices. On the other hand, it's stable and I haven't had to worry about it disconnecting in the time that I've owned it. Plays well with everything else in the Apple Eco-system and setup was extremely easy.

The latest airport extreme is a great router for apple users. Very easy to set up and maintain. Bandwidth is very good.

Took longer to get out of the package than it took to set up. Paying for Apple name and convenience but must say the lack of hassle makes it worth while. Power users and bargain hunters should look elsewhere; folks that just want up to date wireless with no heartburn cannot go wrong with this setup.

Great range. 4/5 because to use an external hard drive as a "cloud," it needs to have an external power source.

I am a true Apple fan but I will also be the first one to say when they have a bad product, and this is one. I have had many routers through the years and this Apple router is the most inconsistent device I've ever used. Pros: Apple Product = seamless integration with other Apple products, easy "Network Utility" app specific to the Apple Router Cons: Repeated intermittent connectivity, Distance isn't even CLOSE to advertised. After exchanging 4 routers, all had the same intermittent connectivity. The 4 Apple Tv's I own would randomly drop connection and would not connect until I restarted the router. Wireless printer was non existent, occasionally it would print out the whole job but most of the time it was just half a page. And my NAS would never stay connected for an entire night. This router is so bad that Apple doesn't even offer it's amazing Apple Care warranty for it!!

I own a lot of Apple products and when I came into The Rochester, Mn location looking to get a new router, as mine was over 5 yrs old and lost connection alot. I first talked to a geek Squad rep and he was helpful somewhat, but a Apple Rep came down the Router Isle and overheard us talking and took over the conversation in a nice way and showed me the Airport Extreme and explained why it is so awesome. I did not know Apple made routers and how well they worked. He showed me how easy they were to set up and OMG he was spot on as when I got home it made a huge difference with all my devices. I do not lose connection at all anymore and it covers over 2,200 sq feet and my home is 2856 sq feet.. I have many things that use WiFI and all I had to really do with some of my devices was just reset the internet and reconnect to the new router. This is such a AWESOME router. Once again Apple makes great products. I could not thank the Apple rep enough for his time and showing me such a great product. It also has many great features.

I had the much more expensive Netgear X10 router, which was amazing, although ugly. Then my home was robbed and I decided to replace it with the Apple router. The Apple router gets the job done, was less expensive, and definitely looks nicer. I recommend.

Purchased this router because of the namebrand Apple and since I had good luck with a previous purchased Apple router. Sad to say that Apple does not support their routers anymore with updates. Works great

No real issues with my new AE Base Station. Once I figured out how to set the cables properly that is. If you are having trouble later with viewing/changing your network see if McAFee anything is loaded on your computer. I had to disable my McAfee to get the AEBS to work.

We switched to the Airports some time ago, and just upgraded to this model. While the first one we got at Best Buy had some issues (we had no problem swapping it out for a new one at the store), we haven't had any problems with this one. All devices stay connected with fast throughput.

The product was great but when I called Best Buy with an installation question no one answered the phone! (Obviously the main # answered but when you pushed buttons for the specific department, no answer, and I called 7 times over 3 days!). No service after the sale!

I went into Best Buy not really knowing what I was looking for in terms of a new router. The associate was awesome in determining what would work best for me and even set it up in store. All I had to do was go home and plug it in. It has worked wonderfully ever since.

The router I have from my current internet provider is crap and doesn’t provide good signal throughout my house. So I bought this router in hopes of solving that problem and it did. I now get a good wireless signal all throughout my house.

I purchased the Apple Extreme Wireless station for ease of setup because I didn't care about the detail. It is what I expected. However, the cost is a little steep for a router. I had hoped that I would get a bit more information from the airport utility other than just showing connections such as speeds or some data on how it is working. It just shows connections and IP info. But all in all I just want something that works and is stable and reliable. Hopefully it will be in the years to come.

I bought this unit because I was told it is super easy to setup and really a great match for our large home. It looked great too! It was easy to setup, seemed to perform well and looked great. We had trouble with using it with Windows based laptop and I spent HOURS on the phone with Apple support. They blamed everything on the machines and Windows. They said the computers were malfunctioning. I had to borrow my neighbors Macbook to try settings on the unit for them. They told me to take the laptop to a public wireless place and try it, which I did (Starbucks). It worked fine with the wireless there and, when I called Apple, they suggested I reload Windows! I took the unit back, got a Netgear router, and it was easier to setup, works with everything and is faster. I think this might be a good choice for an Apple only household but STAY AWAY from it if you have Windows based PC's -- I would recommend Netgear.
