Customers are saying
Customers appreciate the AirPort Extreme Base Station's ease of use, range, and performance. Many also highlight the strong signal strength and relatively easy setup process, resulting in great coverage. However, some customers find the price to be a bit high. A few also mention that the size could be smaller and that more Ethernet ports would be beneficial.

a must have.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took the online-order in a local store. The trick to install is to connect the RJ45 from the modem first and only. this will speed up the connection. Therefore it only took about 5 minutes to get connected to wifi using my iphone. the speed of surfing internet is super fast. No dropping of signal at all. I opened youtube in 6 wireless items, including 1 iphone, 1 pad air, 1 Samsung tablet, 1 HP laptop, and 1 desktop. It played exceedingly smoothly on all of them, even though my internet service (Centurylink) offers only 10Mbps download speed and 0.79Mbps upload speed. Extremely happy withe the top-quality router. The basic CenturyLink internet service is NOT a bottleneck any more. Cheers.

Lasted 3 weeks.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it and it lasted about 3 weeks, had to go all the way out to an apple store, since bestbuy only has a 15 day return. While it is working it does great

Best router on the market!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router for a 1200 Sq Ft condo at the NJ shore. This condo was built hurricane safe and due to that, the WIFI in the upstairs was a challenge. This router has solved that problem! Very easy setup, maintains a strong signal. The only 2 items that I would change if I could is 1. The high price tag and 2. The unit has 3 Ethernet ports vs. 4 in most other routers, but for the speed, ease of use and range, this unit can not be beat.

Ease of set-up, but that's about it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wanted to replace my older Netgear router (R4500) to one that was faster and had better coverage. The Airport Extreme scored lower on both, so now am running a Netgear AC2600, which cost less.

Waste of time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The rep at the store told me this was a no brainer to setup even without a Mac. That any computer would recognize it and would be able to set it up. WRONG!!!! After three hours of messing around, searching the internet for more instructions, I took it back and got a real router that works wonderfully, (Linksys). Within two minutes I was on my way to setting it up. 5 minutes later on the Linksys I had 2 pc's, 3 laptops, a Android tablet, a MacBook, a I-Phone, I-pad, and a droid phone all connected and working well. I wouldn't waste my time on an Apple Airport. Unless you have all Mac in your house.

Slow, very slow.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a Cisco 802.11n and it worked very well but I am an apple lover thus I upgraded to this product and placed it in the same location. I can no longer view netflex, or any streing video except iTunes. Thus I think there is an internal QOS but I cannot see any settings to fix this. Very disappointed. I may have return this product.

It's ok
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They said it was the fastest on the market but my internet is slower than ever! I internet company said the signal is fine on their end. Sometimes it is easier to use our cell signal.

You get what you pay for...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased a middle-of-the-road router nearly a year ago for $80, hoping it would solve our issues of having a weak signal in parts of our home as well as increase the speed of our home network. It didn't work. After researching several products online, we decided to go with the AirPort Extreme. Although it is s bit pricey, we are now enjoying the full benefit of the high-speed Internet service that we pay over $80 a month for. We have a total of 11 devices in our home that use our wireless network, and this router is an absolute beast in terms of delivering superior speeds and a very consistent signal throughout our home as well as outside our home. Setup was a snap and literally took less than two minutes to complete, unlike the router we purchased last year which was cumbersome at best to set up. Leave it to Apple to make this easy. We should have bought this in the first place.

No quite what I was told
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my environment the signal strength does not do what I need it to do plus I don't notice any speed improvements with my other Apple products. I will return it if possible.

Did not work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just couldn’t get this to recognize my system. So kept my original and OK for the time being. And Apple is discontinuing support/updates.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At times I lose my connection while streaming and watching a show. Not sure if this is due to the product. Cannot recommend it until I am fully satisfied.

Returned product.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Insufficient ports and other devices are cheaper that provide the same functionality. Yes it looks cool but setup is not that straight forward compared with other devices.

Apple isn't known for WiFi router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Apple has a very simple GUI for setting up the WiFi. The router looks beautiful, but if you're a power user, skip on over the the ASUS routers.

I would not recommend it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router because I own an iPhone, iPad and a Mac Book Pro and wanted to stay with Apple products but after I bought it I discovered that Apple no longer manufactures the Apple AirportExtreme nor do they provide extended coverage. As it turns out it was not working well with my iPhone or iPad. Even Apple does not sell it anymore, instead they now sell Linsksys at their stores.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really hopeful about this Apple Wireless Base Station, but it was terrible and didn't provide consistent service at all. I returned it.

Good for a small office or apartment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay, router. Could have better range and bandwidth for home streaming use. There are better alternatives.

Not the best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This worked only half the time and I spent more time in the settings than I did actually using the product. I've seen better.

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking to get a linksys router. A co-worker suggested this and I am very happy. I have recommended and setup for someone else as well. Very simple ti install and very reliable. Highly recommended. I have over 16 devices and stream 4-6 devices at a time. No lag. Very good coverage. Pay the little extra and this will make you very happy.
