Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the AirPort Extreme Base Station's ease of use, range, and performance. Many also highlight the strong signal strength and relatively easy setup process, resulting in great coverage. However, some customers find the price to be a bit high. A few also mention that the size could be smaller and that more Ethernet ports would be beneficial.

I have always had issues with my internet working consistently with my computer and Netflix. Since I have purchased the Apple - AirPort Extreme Base I do not have issues with internet any longer. No more unplugging and plugging it back in to try to re-establish internet connection like with the other brands I've used.

Apple exclusive? Some people do use PC........

Have been loving my 2nd gen airport exteme for years now and only wished I waited for the soon to come 1st gen time capsule. Now with the 802.11ac protocol emerging claiming near "wired" performance I thought it a great opportunity to finally upgrade to take advantage of the faster wireless specs and be able to auto back-up with Apple simplicity. To my surprise, Apple tech support informed me they currently have no compatibility with PC's and therefore would not support the use of it. There are 3 mac books, 3 iPhones, a win7 laptop and win7 desktop both upgraded with Solid State hard drives in my household and was hoping all could seamlessly be auto backed-up with this nice all in one unit. Not the case......could not manually configure the router and thought for $300 there would be some general compatibility. In addition, wireless throughput did not seem up to par either. My old wireless-N airport extreme ran tests consistently at 40-50Mbps#50Mbps Comcast subscriber#. This unit's N protocol transmitted and received often at sub 35Mbps download speeds. Although I purchased a Netgear wireless ac adapter, I could never get it to connect on the ac 5.0GHz broadband frequency but can't verify that was Apple's fault. I am usually very high on Apple products, but this one I believe misses the target...unless you are an Apple exclusive user, I'm not sure this router/NAS would be the one for you. I will be returning the new TC and purchasing a higher rated ASUS router with an outboard 2TB hard drive for less or about the same money.

Solid router, perfect for both Mac/PC homes

Buying a router in 2014 means spending the additional money to future proof by getting a wireless AC capable router. This one does the trick for anyone who wants an easy to configure, highly stable router. The cost is a little more but the stability is par none. My main complaint and why I docked this a star (ended up reselling it) was the lack of detailed information the router displays through the AirPort Utility in OSX. I'm much happier with my AC66U for that very reason.

Went from Airport express to the AirPort Extreme and the switch over was very easy. The software setup transferred all settings even ssid name and password. We run 5 Apple devices plus a gaming console and smart Blueray with no problems.

I have had apple routers for the last 6 years and i would never buy another brand. These things are so easy to set up and always stay connected. They never have to be reset and always provide a great wireless signal.

It was difficult to set up. The AirPort Utility wouldn't find it. I had to use my Ipad. I went to settings, Wi-Fi and then the IPad could be used to set it up. The Set up instructions didn't explain that option at all.

These new Airport Extreme Base Stations are the best yet from Apple. They are very powerful and provide a great coverage area. I've set up numerous base stations and have had great luck with them all.

I finally get my full download speed with the ac band. My old router even though it was n technology, would only get half the download speed I am paying for.

Easy as heck to set up using iphone (I have a PC but can still use airport utility, but I suggest using your iphone if you have one) HOWEVER, don't think that because it says "Extend network", you're gonna get ANY extra range out of it. My Linksys worked the same, but apple plays well with apple, so, easy to setup. Frustrating to spend all that $$ and think I'm gonna have great coverage throughout the whole house, and not get it! Only reason I got it was because my Linksys wouldn't work with Gen 2 Airport expresses.#for whatever reason, it worked fine with the Gen1s# Have 4 expresses throught the house, all checked with "Extend network", so I'd expect crazy coverage, but no dice..:#

I was looking to upgrade my wireless home device and was recommended this by a Best Buy employee in the store. It works well, but the range is not as good as I was told. The signal is weak across our 2500 sq ft home.
