Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the AirPort Extreme Base Station's ease of use, range, and performance. Many also highlight the strong signal strength and relatively easy setup process, resulting in great coverage. However, some customers find the price to be a bit high. A few also mention that the size could be smaller and that more Ethernet ports would be beneficial.

High quality and simple to setup. I bought one for home because the ISP supplied router kept dropping our iPhones. This router fixed that and gives much stronger signal throughout the house. I purchased 2 of these for my church which provide wifi for a congregation of over 300 on Sunday morning.

I'm very happy with the product so far. It does everything it was advertised to do and has not presented any problems. It's a bit on the expensive side as there are many routers less costly than Apple's router, but it came highly recommended by both people outside Best Buy and inside Best Biy.

I had issues in my home with a cable provided wifi modem. I tried to upgrade to another brand of 802.11n wifi modem and still had a weak and inconsistent signal. After attaching the airport extreme my problems have pretty much been resovled and I have great internet speeds throughout the house.

We bought this router at the recommendation of Best Buy staff. The broadcast distance and signal is much better than the other 4 routers we have used in the past. Never could get signal to the opposite side of the house until now!

I was in the market for an "ac" router, and our house is pretty much an "Apple" environment. I did not want to spend more than $200 for a new router. I know, "Apple is out of the router business" , but I did some checking and was told at the Apple Store, and Best Buy that they will continue to support this product. With a price of $173, it was a no brainer, and I had 30 days to test it out. On the install, I disconnected my "n" router network, recycled my Comcast modem, and followed the instructions to set up the router...eezy peezy. So far so good...speed is good, range is better throughout the house.

I purchased this to replace my previous generation Airport Extreme. I haven't noticed significant improvements in speed but it works well overall. Setup was a breeze--it recognized my old Airport Extreme and transferred all settings to the new one. I was up and running in a matter of minutes.

Nice product. I get full signal strength everywhere in my home. I have a half acre lot and the range extends well past that. Very simple to set up and is very easily managed with an iphone.

I had the older apple extreme product before purchasing this one. It is leaps and bounds beyond the old apple product. MY Wifi speeds went from about 70-80 Mbps to around 130-140 Mbps - this in testing with the old one just before replacing it with the new one then re-testing. Incredible.

Our household runs an iMac, 2 MacBooks, 3 iPads and 4 iPhones. To say the least our Verizon WIFI was taxed as at any given time most of the devices are being used, often to stream video or use the Slingbox to watch TV on the deck. The Airport was easy to set up, basically does it by itself and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Buffering and lag on video has disappeared. Speed has also nautically increased. I probably should have spent the extra $100 for an Ultimate but my existing external hard drive has been moved to the AirPort and handles Time Machine backups nicely. If you have dead zones or experience a lot of buffering this is probably your best solution.

The best router you can get. Far outshines the previous models. Strong, sleek, good looking. Easy to configure; now Apple has made it easy to extend your network. Gone are the days of configuring boosters using AirPort Utility. As close to plug and play as you can expect from a network device.

We have at least 7 devices connected at all times and have had great results so far. Speed is fast and consistent, and I have not had to restart the AirPort since initial boot up. I have had Linksys and Cisco routers in the past 10 years, but would recommend the AirPort above all of them.

I'm a mac person so it was easy to set up this base station with my mac computers at home. Not sure if same for PC users. My lives in our basement and I upgraded from an old mac base station from 5 yrs ago. I barely got signal in our bedroom upstairs on 2nd floor. Now I have 5 bars. Excellent.

This wireless base station is everything I wanted. I can connect my non-wireless printer in it and make it wireless! This far better than the older apple base station I had. I'm loving it!!!

Purchased this to replace a Netgear device and it works great. We have all Apple computers but have other devices like Fire TV and Roku in the home. Haven't had an issue connecting to the WIFI yet from any device and it greatly improved network speed. Signal strength is much better too.

We purchased the AirPort Extreme to replace an older Airport Express. The Extreme, according to the product information was the better choice for our larger home. So far it had worked very well without any additional remote routers (which we previously had needed)

There is a bit of history about the wireless routers we have owned to get where we are now. In the beginning, we had Linksys wireless routers and when none of them lasted, I moved to Netgear. The first Netgear lasted the longest but it still was not good after going through four more trying to replace the first Netgear. I had heard a lot about the Apple Extreme plus reading a lot of reviews and talking to other that own them and everything sounded great so we took the plunge and purchased our first one. Every time we lost Internet with the Apple Extreme, it was not the unit but our cable provider. Although it did need to be rebooted every occasionally it worked flawlessly. One morning we woke up, the yellow light was on and there was no Internet so I talked to our cable provider’s support and Apple support all day and we still were down. I decided to get another Extreme not knowing if it was the unit and Apple support set up an appointment for the Apple store so I could have it checked out but that was two days away, in the meantime, I went and purchased the latest version of the Apple Extreme. The set up was easy and we were back on the Internet early evening. The setup is a bit different in that you cannot use the Apple Utility on a PC for any programing. You must have an iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad to connect. In the end it was the Apple Extreme but it was not a catastrophic failure of the unit just a factory reset. Starting with the other brand routers, I needed a gigabit wireless router to go with our gigabit modem although no Internet provider provides gigabit for regular consumers yet, I still wanted the fastest connection possible. I expect my two Apple Extreme’s too work for years to come given what others I talked to have told me. Additionally the Extreme in my opinion should have two ports supporting both a network printer and hard drive for network accessibility. The new version of the Apple Extreme is working perfectly and so far no issues. I give this product a five star rating as the first Extreme was fine after my visit to the Apple Store as they reset it a different way than what is published for the consumer and it is still going strong. About me: I am computer savvy and have a good amount of technical knowledge but not a technical expert.

This is in our basement where our PC currently is placed. It runs our iPads anywhere in our other two stories. (We have the basement AND the first floor & the upstairs or second story) It also runs our smart tv in the family room on the first floor as well as a tv in one of the upstairs bedrooms. It even worked with an older tv that was not a smart tv. But when I got the bigger tv, I gave the older one to our oldest son. We do have charter for our internet service & they make us rent their router but even so, this is a powerful little unit. Attractive too. Not an eyesore. Have had it for 4-5 yrs. & still works great.

I have an old house with plaster walls that took two routers to cover. I plugged the Extreme in and it was like a WiFi bomb had gone off in the house. Every inch has coverage we have reception to the street. Worth every penny.
