Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the AirPort Extreme Base Station's ease of use, range, and performance. Many also highlight the strong signal strength and relatively easy setup process, resulting in great coverage. However, some customers find the price to be a bit high. A few also mention that the size could be smaller and that more Ethernet ports would be beneficial.

My old Extreme died so I needed a replacement. Took about a minute to set up and it joined my network quickly and my other extenders connected with no issues. Internet works great and I’m also backing up all of my devices to a USB drive plugged into the Extreme.

Just purchased a 4k uhdtv and told the BB associate I was setting up a new wireless home network and wanted to upgrade from the cable company equipment package. He recommended this Apple product. Works great ! I download 4k content from YouTube and Netflix and it's ready to go in a jiffy.

This was so easy to setup. The cable installer was standing at my desk when we setup the wireless router and the modem. He said "This is going to take a while to setup." It was working in about 20 seconds and he was shocked. We have no weak spots in the office and it works great.

AirPort Extreme is easy to set up. If you have a couple of devices-no problem. But connecting ALL devices is time comsuming just because you have to reenter passwords to connect. AirPort Extreme has a good range and can be use by devices anywhere in the house.

The performance is very consistent and streaming is never laggy, doesn't buffer, and always pure HD. But it's weird because I'm never able to get my full 50mbps yet it's more consistent than my old router which averaged 49mbps, yes it at times was above 50. Not sure what to make of it but in this case numbers alone don't mean everything. Setup is nothing, took maybe 5 minutes. Interface is simple, I'm a networking geek so it's hard not to have all the options I'm used to but I get over it because it's a breeze to use and my mac backs up with an external hard drive that was literally plug in and start backing up.

I love Apple simplicity! I'm not technologically inclined so I need simplicity. Installation was painless using the Setup Guide and Setup Assistant included with the AirPort Extreme product. The elegant space-saving design maximizes my minimal desk area. I chose AirPort Extreme for it's high powered features, Apple reliability and the ability to interact with the new iPadAir2 and iPhone6 I hope to purchase soon. My iMac had just been updated to Yosemite and the AirPort Extreme was the next step in becoming current. I didn't need the back up feature or extra cost difference of Time Machine so AirPort Extreme is simply wonderful for my needs.

I have used Apple Extremes for many years. This new one has excellent signal strength and is very easy to set up. WiFi comes into my house through Comcast and first goes to a Comcast Modem/Router for TV and phone. I found that when its router function was enabled, it drastically interfered with the Apple router (sitting nearby), so it is important to remember to switch the Comcast router to bridge mode if you are using a different router system as I am. Works very well with several MACs, iPhones, and iPads. I am sorry to have heard that Apple is apparently getting out of the router business.

I never really ever considered buying this since, though I love iPhone and iPad, we have windows computers. I've purchased every $200 N router made in the last decade always hoping 1 will be better than the last and rarely seeing much improvement at all. In the end, last year, I gave up and went old school and added more cat5 jacks in the house because I had 6000 sq ft to cover with high speed data needs on all 3 floors for intense PC gaming, online movie streaming and more and no wireless router was cutting it. When we moved to a new 5000 sqft house under time warner (who all the neighbors said was already sketchy even when you paid for top tier) I had someone come to install cat5 on day 1 only to be told what a nightmare it would be since house wasn't prewired and that I should look into trying the airport base with an express box or two for the other floors. I didn't expect for a minute for it to be any better than our current router which wasn't getting the signal past the first floor, no less the third floor; but I was desperate because even if I was willing to spend a fortune installing cat5 I still needed decent wireless for iPads etc. low and behold and to make a truly long story short - 1 base station in the basement, 1 express on each of the other two floors and not only do they extend the wireless signal but the signal and speed and strong enough for 3 online gamers to play at once and for me to be able to stream movies at the same time!!!!!!!!! That is impressive beyond measure of anything I've previously tried and I'm so happy to be back in 21st century technology and not reverting to wiring a house.

If you're a consumer of apple products, this product will not disappoint. It works great with my iPhone, iPad, & MacBook Pro. Not quite sure how it works with Android devices or a PC. I also like the stylish, compact design. It doesn't take up a lot of space on the desk.

If you currently own one or more Apple products then this router is an obvious solution to your existing problem (i.e. The fact you don't have a router or maybe you just need one to compliment your already existing apple products.). This was an easy set-up for me since I own multiple Apple products, and I don't claim to be an expert, only a novice. After the set-up stage is complete, you can be rest assured that you will always get the best connection possible at all times, but this heavily depends on the type of device you have of course. Some devices don't support the top of the line "ac" so you will get the next best connection speed possible, just a little FYI. It's fairly easy to diagnose a problem with this router as well.

Easy set up. Working great. Dual band 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz. Guest network also. I bought this to replace an ASUS wi fi router that stopped working under a year of use. Was highly disappointed in it. Knowing how good an APPLE product is, I replaced the ASUS and I am up and running.

Our office uses an old Linksys 54g router and subsequently it drops Apple MacBooks from the network or refuses to authenticate them unless rebooted. This added into this network and in addition to the network has provide an easy to configure and accessible upgraded option.

At home, we have several Apple products. We had a brand name router (3rd one in 3 years) and it failed again. I gave in and bought the AirPort Extreme. It has been amazing. Our speeds have increased. The number of devices being used no longer slows us down. This is a must have.

I can only go by the numbers. My internet speed went from low 20Mbps to the low to mid 60Mbps and I have 2 Macs, 1 iPad and 1 ipod using the network. I was thinking of upgrading my internet service but now I don't have the need. That's $30 a month staying in my pocket. Easy to install, if you take the time to read the instructions. Had it up and running quickly and that includes getting a printer tied into the network. For what I intended this is a great product and I have yet to find something I don't like about it.

This router came recommended via an Internet radio station operator, who stated it was a "stable performer". His, along with my observation, has been true - this router is reliant, stable and easy to configure.
