Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the AirPort Extreme Base Station's ease of use, range, and performance. Many also highlight the strong signal strength and relatively easy setup process, resulting in great coverage. However, some customers find the price to be a bit high. A few also mention that the size could be smaller and that more Ethernet ports would be beneficial.

I bought this for my daughter as she's moving to another city. I needed something that was easy to set up an maintain. This obviously costs more than most routers, but Apple makes it easy for the average consumer.

Rock solid, easy to set up and maintain. So far I've purchased 5 of these for both home and business applications across multiple locations. Both on Apple and non Apple bases networks. Tie in and AirPort Express for extended range needed and you have a bulletproof wireless network. At home I stay connected to my wireless network three houses in any direction. So make sure you set up your networks with passwords or you'll have neighbors leeching off your connection.

Setup from iPhone / iPad is simply amazing, flawless execution and anyone who can read three sentences of instruction can have this running in a few minutes. 4 out of 5 stars as I wish the range was better, it is good, but not great. It does handle many, many devices very well and all devices are not starved for bandwidth. I also like the GB ports on the back for wired connections.

My old Netgear N900 was dying and I needed a good replacement that didn't break the bank. Tried the TP-Link C8 Archer, but found that the range was very poor (less than my older N900 Router). Bought the comparable ASUS Router and it was DOA. Decided to give The Apple AirPort Extreme a try. Setup was a breeze, range is excellent, it's been very stable and handles all my traffic easily.

I bought this upgrading from the express version from Apple hoping to increase my range of my router. It sure looks cool and I don't feel like I have to bury it away under any of my desks or behind things. It is kind of like and art piece. Unfortunately I have not noticed any significant increase in range over my other one so I don't think the price is worth the extra money.

I've always loved Apple's routers. They are easy to setup and don't have a lot of issues. My two complaints are a lack of a DDNS option and the design of the physical case. It's about impossible to mount this unit. You pretty much have to set it on a shelf or on something. Oh, and it would be nice to have 4 lan ports like most other routers. Otherwise, it's a great router!

I have this router setup in our vacation home and it works great. It practically installed itself while the cable guy was here setting up the TV. He didn't want to install it since I didn't purchase it through Time Warner so I turned it on and it set itself up even before he had the TV working. A must have. It works great in all areas of our home. It out performs all the other routers I have used in the past.

This is my first time going with an Apple router, and it turned out to be an easy decision. It's more expensive than your usual Netgear and Linksys routers, but it is fast! I have 50 Mbps internet speed from Comcast at home, and this router allowed 50 Mbps connection to Wifi, not just LAN. I was also able to create a separate (open) guest Wifi network so guests don't have to ask me for Wifi network password when they visit. The management interface is a little different, so you may feel power-less compared to other management interfaces that you were used to with other brands.

Upgraded from an AirPort Express to the Extreme. Have been very happy with the increased performance. I had recently upgraded by MacBook and can take advantage of the faster speeds available with the Extreme.

I had no idea what to buy, and this was recommended to us at the store. I'm so glad we spent a little extra money to get it. We have 4 iPads, a mac desktop, four smart phones and a playstation and sometimes all of them are on the internet at the same time. With the AirPort Extreme I don't have to worry about it routing to them all. And, it was extremely easy to set up! I am so happy with this investment.

The best thing about this is the easy set up. You are literally up and running with secured and separate guest networks in about 5 minutes. In some respects I loved using past products from Dlink and Linksys due to the ability to customize and set fixed IP addresses, etc for all of the devices now in the average home, but like any Apple product, it just works and works extremely well.

Work awesome. So easy to set up and has a pretty high range. We have it in the basement in the corner in our house and works great outside on our deck. Would buy another one if need be. It's a great product.

I'm surprised that this one doesn't get more attention in the technical press as it really performs wonderfully!!! And, if you don't have another back-up method, look at the one that includes automatic back-up too.

So I'm your basic computer dork - I need a tutorial for finding the "on" button - but this Apple AirPort Extreme Router was super easy to install and, thus far, working well. I am very pleased with the product.
