Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the AirPort Extreme Base Station's ease of use, range, and performance. Many also highlight the strong signal strength and relatively easy setup process, resulting in great coverage. However, some customers find the price to be a bit high. A few also mention that the size could be smaller and that more Ethernet ports would be beneficial.

I have owned many Wifi routers and this thing ROCKS! I am no stranger to networking devices and this is my first Apple airport device. They have done an excellent job with designing this device. When I do speed test this thing pegs the meter beyond my connection speed consistently. My buddy bought one before me and I thought he was pulling my leg about his speed test exceeding his allocated bandwidth from his provider. Im getting 67-70Mbps of a 60Meg connection from my provider.

I upgraded late, thinking my older model Airport Extreme was OK. But now, instead of using two stations, I only use this router and my wifi speeds (on the second floor) have gone from 20 Mbps to 100+ Mbps (usually running at 50 - 70). Huge difference. If you haven't upgraded, it's definitely worth it.

Our internet did not reach the south end of our house and the new tower gave us much faster service. We had an older version of AirPort Extreme. I highly recommend the tower version.

I have a massive historic plantation estate that gets weak DSL in this area. The main house is over 200 years old and has 2 foot-thick stone walls, underground tunnels, etc., and this was virtually impossible for us to have a router in one part of the house and get a signal anywhere else. The Apple Extreme has allowed me to have a signal not only in the house, which gets picked up and boosted downstairs and completely across the upstairs by 2 additional Airport Expresses, but it also throws a signal to the guest cottages across the lawns! All you need is an Apple Laptop or computer to first set it up. For the Express, you only need an iPhone or iPad (or of course a computer will do!) Love this! Changed our lives....

Replaced an original time machine - true plug and run - improved speed, range and quality of connections. Upgraded the cable modem as well to get 60mbps down on wireless devices on TWC.

Excellent with all my devices in the house but I don't get the 200 ft range promised in the literature and by the Apple people I talked to before I bought it. We have a large covered patio in the backyard away from the house. Total distance from the Airport Express is 50 to 60 feet. If I stand just right I can get a minimal signal, otherwise nothing. I know it's going through walls but I asked specifically about this.

I previously had an Apple router that I bought from Best Buy, and it died after about a year and a half, so it did not last as long as I believe it should have. But, all my computers, phones, etc are Apple, and I do love their products, so am giving it another try. Sure hope it doesn't disappoint me again.

Exactly what you've come to expect from Apple products. It set itself up on the network before I even had a chance to find the chapter in the manual. There was a noticeable difference in signal and speed.

I live in an old, turn-of-the-century house, and my wifi router is located a floor up from several downstairs rooms where I use my iPad and my digital TV. To get the best 4K streaming and downloads, I needed to enhance the signal from my Internet supplier's modem (it's a cable company), so I added this Airport Extreme base station (I have another one upstairs, which runs my Airport network for two iMacs and a HP wireless printer)). It functions smoothly and never gives me a problem. All the signal tests I run on downstairs devices show that they are nearly as strong as upstairs near my modem and other Airport Extreme. I'm quite satisfied.

I am not a tech expert but this route is able to handle 3 iphones, 3 iPads, 2 iMacs, 1 i touch and 2 smart tvs. Just make sure someone knowledgeable with Apple products installs it so all the devices work properly. Functios very well with Time Warner Cable if this happens to be your internet provider.

Decent AC router. It is very easy to set up and start using. However it does not have any expert options to set up. For this price there should be other options beyond allow access or not. I have to say it works as advertised and performance is not bad. I have Apple Air so it has very good performance with this computer. On other systems performance is satisfactory.

Worth the extra money for quality router. Replaced earlier generation AirPort Extreme and not only is it cooler to the touch, the range of wireless signal is almost unreal. Secure it. At least with ours, it goes several blocks in the neighborhood. As expected, works flawlessly with other Apple products.

We had the cable wireless and after a while there service was terrible. We had a recommendation from the service rep from the cable company tell us to go buy this and it will improve the service. So after reading the reviews for this product we purchased the product and we have not had anymore issues.

I've set up many wifi routers, this one was the easiest, and, the most powerful. I had it going in 5 minutes, haven't thought about in in 2 months. It just works. A little pricey, but well worth it.

This unit is very simple to setup right out of the box. The WiFi coverage is fantastic and even works outside, hundreds of feet away from the unit. The additional ethernet ports are great for wired connections and network printers. You can add a network drive via the USB port. Highly recommend this unit.
