    Ok modem

    I am giving this 3 stars. Worked great when I first got. Lasted about a year and then we started having connection issues. Techs would come out and thought it was our lines at first. Finally found out the modem was dying and replaced and now no issues. For 110 dollars may be worth just renting one as they would replace if anything happens. The rented modem seems to work just fine. A good router is recommended over the one they give to rent. Even the tech was saying (went thru 3 techs) that these modems go bad all the time and many times bad out of the box.

    I was using wifi router/modem from TWC. That sucked with Netflix. Once I started using this one, HD streaming is back.

    Bought this item cuz will give me up to 300 Mbps approved by Time warner cable . But never get it :-( . I don't blame the modem itself and think it's a bad installation from cable provider. The only thing that I hate most from this modem it's the light that produces the modem itself., I'm one of the persone who likes to sleep like a vampire I love dark when it's time to rest. I have to shut down this divice every single time.

    Great value! Got it over the weekend was excited to get my Xfinity internet activated. 4 hours troubleshooting with Support, they see my modem is "offline". Field techs comes out today. 2 hrs later, my brand new modem was defective straight out of the box... Connection works fine and stays solid with the modem Xfinity tested with! He says with these ones sometimes you get ones that don't work out of box or ones that work well for a very long time... Lucky me Ill need to go back and exhange for another. Fingers crossed this next one is a winner:)

    NO RESET BUTTON

    I purchased this device and j-u-s-t past the 2 yr warranty it started flaking out. BEWARE: there is no manual reset button. You have to log into the modem IP address to perform a Reboot/Reset and/or Factory Reset. Arris online support is wreckless: do you have internet? No, it's the ISP. You DO have internet? Is there anything else we can help you with? I never got answers. It was easier to wait 2 days to see if the modem turns back on. Arris online FAQ/Troubleshooting was a joke. The online support said 'in his best experiences', but could not point any online documentation. So basically you should just be an Arris employee. Please, explore your options.

    Had this for about 3-4 years now and it worked good at the time I bought it but now it drops signal about 35-40 times a day and I have to fight it to get it back working right. Not a good buy. Read that Arris is in a law suit about crappy parts but haven't heard anything more on that issue. Dont wast you time buying this crap.

    Not Stable Overheats Slows Down....

    Modem overheats and gets very slow after that. When modem is cool I am getting 337Mbp download speed, but when overheats drops the speed gets very slow. This modem after overheat not stable drops all the time connection. I want to exchange this modem.

    The SMELL - Like a dirty locker room; stinky

    Bought this SB6183 about 1 year ago to go with my 300 MB TimeWarner cable service. Works great, but after about 3 months of constant on you'll start to get an oder released from it that smells like a dirty locker room; very stinky. I'm an OCD individual and have a very clean house and I'm certain that there is nothing nearby the modem which is causing the smell. It is directly coming from it! About 6 months ago I couldn't take it any longer and called Arris for a replacement, hoping that I just got a bad one. Well, just about 3 months with my new modem, again ....stinky smell! I've never had a problem with Motorola before Arris took them over and I don't know what changed?! But I'm done with it and switching to another brand. I hope in the future they will improve, because I've always like Surfboard modems.

    Purchased this modem in 4/20/2015. Spent several hours online with cable company and then Motorola to determine it was faulty and needed to be replaced. Motorola not good company to deal with! Yes, they will replace but still waiting for call back with return info. After this is done they will send me replacement if I pay $15. Then I have to pay to ship broken one back, another $15! Not good customer support. This could mean 5-7 business days without internet. Not something I could recommend. 8/7/2015
