I had a problem with my Wi-Fi going in and out and went through a rather frustrating procedure of buying and returning one modem, then buying this one only to find out that the problem was with my cable provider. On the other hand, my old Motorola model is long since end-of-life and this Arris model, while not the wave of the future, has worked extremely well since I've purchased it. The Arris model I purchased may be boring, but it works and works well, which is what you want with a modem.

Tired of paying cable company for TV and cut the cord. Still required Internet and would cost $10 per month plus tax to get their modem. Bought this one and will payback in a little over a year. Unit worked right out of the box as it said it would and no long waits on the phone to activate it with Comcast. It takes you to a site and you activate it online. Slick. Has the latest updated software and you can update the firmware. This is a very good deal and should serve my household for years to come.
