I also bought a new router at the same time. Turns out my problem then was the router so I put off installing the modem. Wifi recently got slow and I finally installed the modem. What a joy to have my fast wifi back.

It was a decent upgrade

I decided to go with the Arris Surfboard product and it's been giving me a stable connection without any interruption ever since. I only took off one star because the best buy store associate in Smyrna GA wouldn't price match the price from your own BESTBUY.com. He told me to purchase another one online and have one of them returned... I didn't feel like going through the trouble for $5. That was the only speck.

Stop paying to rent a cable box.

I have not paid that fee in over 10 years saving me over $1,200 - the $140 I have paid for the two cable modems I have purchased outright. Comcast has made setting these up dead simple now too. Just connect to cable wire and go to any website on your computer to get walked through the setup process (as long as you can remember your Comcast account details).
