More band is to more fast, compact. The only detail is that it gives wireless access, but the best band in quantity.

For the rental price ($10-$15 a month) the cable companies charge you, this unit will pay for itself in less than a year.

I owned this modem for about 3 weeks when an issue with the Intel Chipset reared its ugly head. I saw an increase in latency and lost connection entirely 5-10 times per day, and would have to reset the modem to fix it. To my knowledge there is no firmware fix available. Unfortunately, I thought it was an ISP problem (the modem was brand new after all) so I had a tech come out to my house multiple times to inspect and attempt to fix things on their end first. It was only after the third visit that I switched to a different modem - problem solved! Avoid this modem at all costs. Unfortunately due to BestBuy's less than stellar return policy I was laughed out of the store when trying to return this modem for a factory defect 50 days after purchase. Save yourself $100 and a lot of trouble.

I would recommend this modem to increase your broadband speeds.

IT Manager here... I am beyond disappointed in the SB6190 to say the least and will never purchase from ARRIS again. After my Comcast modem started having trouble I went out and purchased this device expecting a smooth transition. Post install I spent hours on end troubleshooting my system trying to figure out why my connection continued to drop. I didn’t believe that it could be the modem considering I had just purchased a brand new one. After some research online I found the class-action lawsuit against ARRIS for selling this product while knowing that the intel Puma chipset is defective, affecting thousands of customers. I am very disappointed in ARRIS and BestBuy both for continuing to sell a defective product to unknowing consumers. I know it doesn’t matter for normal internet service but I really like having the full gigabit link to my router. And I like personally owned modems and routers. Having the option to upgrade or configure routing without (usually) calling customer service is essential for us. There is little real need for some of the higher tier models, us mere mortals won’t have the option to use all those up/down stream channels in the near future. From a physical standpoint, the unit has a good form factor and nice heat dissipation with the panel mounted vertical or horizontal. Mine is wall mounted to normal wood screws on a piece of plywood so the power and cables had plenty of support staples. I’m crazy like that.
