Not capable of advertised speed
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased due to box and website(s) stating that it is capable of 1.4Gbps speeds and compatible with Xfinity. Upgraded to 1Gbps internet speeds with Xfinity and over time noticed that internet speed is lower than in the past. Performed speed test and followed up with Xfinity and Arris. Both stated that the modem isn't actually capable of 1Gbps speed and is slowing down internet speed vs lower tiered plan which it is compatible with. 14d has passed so the Best Buy will not accept the return to exchange for a Docsis 3.1 modem that is required to get 1Gbps plan.

Shouldn't even be sold
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Garbage modem with a known faulty chip, still being sold by Arris and advertised as a gigabit+ modem. It has an Intel Puma 6 chip in it that will chug as soon as it comes under any sort of load. So those high speeds you wanted? Well, now you'll have dropped packets and ridiculous ping instead. Do yourself a favor and either stick with the older 6183, or if you actually need the gigabit, you can try the Arris SB8200. Despite their screwup with this model, they still generally make the most reliable modems. Regardless, THIS modem should not be stocked anywhere as it fails to deliver the advertised benefits. So much so that they faced a class action lawsuit over it.

Don't purchase- not worth it.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Would not purchase again. Have to use the Surfboard app to install and the app is the worst. It's SO bad it's rated 1.6 stars in the App Store. I would DEFINITELY not suggest anyone purchase this product.

Modem works well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was using a modem and router combo, and it didn't work for my 2 story house. Best Buy associate recommended this to me, and it works great.

Not Happy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have cable models speed of 200 mbps. This didn’t throw more than 100 mbps. Had several issues with constant drops and finally I switched to Mesh. Didn’t even feel like selling on eBay as someone would suffer.

Make sure you have a real Router behind it.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The modem works and took some time to get it to reset with Comcast. Modem has an odd issue with it’s IP addressing. No functional interface useful enough to manage their network.

Does not work with Optimum online!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've tried time and again with Optimum CS, but it failed to go thru the last step (last light turning solid). Called ARRIS CS who, after providing the serial number, right away told me to take it back to where I bought it from. They insist on registering the product in order to try to help with technical problems, but I refused as I knew I would be returning it. Also, other folks mention that there is some kind of known "intel chip" hardware problem and discouraged from buying it (read other reviews).

Installation issue
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had to have a tech come out from Comcast to complete the installation. He said as mention on reviews on the net, hard to install. Don't buy this device. The Best Buy sakes rep recommended it. I'd rerun it but it's too much of a hassle.

Defective intel chip inside
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It worked for 1 month and started to drop wifi signal. I found out it has the defective Intel Puma chip 6 in which it has a class active suit against Intel. Why would you stock a product that is defective? I had to google to find out what modems do not contain the defective chip.

Good product...but limited use
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router had problems hooking up and limited connectivity for external devices. Good signal strength but could not support my needs, returned for a NETgear product.

THIS JUNK IS STILL FOR SALE???
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If i could give ZERO stars i would. Do yourself a favor and google "Puma 6 chipset" and it all comes to light. Every single product with this same chipset is permanently flawed. They allegedly pushed out a firmware update to "fix the flaw" and i can tell you(along with many others)with absolute certain that it is not and never will be fixed. I find it completely ABHORRENT that they haven't pulled Puma chipset products from the shelf.

It worked for about half a day
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We got rid of our Cox modem because we kept having problems. We upgraded to this modem and the EERO WiFi. The modem was an issue hooking up because apparently it was a return from another customer. The previous customer never removed their registration of the device, so we had to go through that process. When we did get it set up, it just wouldn't keep the signal. We returned it the next day and got a Motorola modem and have had no issues....knock on wood. Wish I could say that about my internet provider ;)

Specs no longer viable
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Work as expected, but was told that it is an old model and will no longer be supported by Xfinity, so spent a little more for the 1Gig model.
